This was our first time at the Green O and we plan to come back. Here is the rundown of our experience.
Check-in: you are greeted by a staff member at the Social Haus, and encouraged to grab a drink or bite while they take your belongings to your room. Drinks and bites are amazing so definitely take them up on that. They give you a wrist band for accessing your room and a host showed us all the amenities of our room (Tree Haus), and let us get settled in before dinner. Definitely make sure that you get shown how to use the fireplace and Sonos surround sound in your home. We had to ask for help a second time. Also, given the amount of glass windows in the homes it may run hot especially upstairs (our AC struggled a bit the first day, it was around 80 and sunny that day outside). In the evenings we chose to just leave our sliding doors cracked on the balcony to regulate some fresh air into the home and help it stay cool when needed.
Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included and one of the many highlights. You will not be disappointed. They are also happy to accommodate any food allergies or preferences. The wait staff is super attentive and the kitchen staff are very welcoming as well and happy to share more about the dishes if you choose to ask questions. You can tell the chef has put a lot of effort into each dish and it was nice that the courses for dinner change each evening. We also checked out the Paws Up menus at their other restaurants as well, but the Social Haus menu is worth sticking around for. It provided a more intiment setting and multiple courses.
Activities: we took a 9 mile self guided mountain bike/gravel ride (they provide bikes to you, ours needed more air in the tires) which we used to check out the other parts of the property Paws Up, the river, etc. You could also do the same with the private Lexus vehicle they loan you for your stay, which we used when needed.
The archery guide William was awesome and we loved the experience. It is set up with multiple stations to shoot dummy targets (deer, elk, bear, etc.). We spoke to other guests who went fly fishing, horse back riding, atv guided ride to the ghost town, etc and they all seemed so happy about their adventures.
What could be improved: 1) Some of our texts to the concierge didn't get a timely response, 2) we booked this specific weekend because the event schedule had listed a special 'Nashtana' food and music events. However, when we inquired about getting transportation to said event the staff told us it was too late to do so and that music wasn't happening on Saturday, which we later learned that the music did happen it was just that our scheduled dinners overlapped so the timing couldn't work for us. This was disappointing but on our final night we did catch some live music at Paws up, albeit we had to leave dinner early to attend it.
I got the vibe that those staying at Green O don't usually venture off for food and events happening on the more public parts of the Paws Up property. We enjoyed the appeal of both (especially for music and cocktails outside) but for some people perhaps never leaving Green O would suffice as the Social Haus is amazing and certainly worth spending time at. And it is adults only, so you don't have to worry about any kiddos running around the property while you are enjoying the wonderful food and peaceful surroundings. It is worth noting that when we did venture to Paws Up (shed and other properties) for a drink they were inclusive of our stay. It was nice not having to carry cash or a card with us.
Extras: We also met with their event planner who was amazing and spent about an hour showing us some of the event spaces throughout Paws Up. He then connected us to his colleagues who quickly responded to our inquiries.
I could see this being a great fit for a corporate retreat, elopement/engagement, or small private gathering. The Green O does allow full buyouts of all 12 private units when availability permits it. We were also told that they sometimes offer a discount to returning...
Read moreWe recently decided to take a vacation with friends, and try the "Green-O Resort". We had seen videos on YouTube and read articles about the Resort and were very excited to stay in the Tree Haus and Round Haus. We made our reservations months in advance in order to enjoy a few activities. Unfortunately, just before leaving for our trip we were informed that there was a larger group of people who had reserved most of the time slots for the activities. We decided to go ahead and go anyway. Upon arriving to the resort, we were pleasantly greeted with cocktails and appetizers. Our luggage was transferred from our personal vehicles to staff vehicles and taken to our rooms by two very friendly young men. I have to say that the Social Haus dining was incredibly delicious. We had the nine course tasting menu with wine pairings every night. The chefs are very creative and talented. The food servers and kitchen staff were very friendly and made us feel at home.
The rooms although lacked. Each room has an extreme amount of windows which were all dirty. The "Ultra Modern Kitchen" had no microwave or any cooking surface, the mini fridge drawer was minimally stocked and there were no small bottles of alcohol, fruit or snack items like you would normally find in a high end resort. There were also no specialty items in the bathroom such as lotions, scented soaps and hair products like you would find in luxury resorts. There were remote controlled fireplaces, but there weren't any instructions on how to use them. There were wall switches that didn't seem to work for anything. Each room has its own private outdoor hot tub which we were told would be cleaned everyday. We lifted the hot tub cover on the first day only to find that it was filthy and had pine needles and leaves in it. In the three days that we were there, the hot tub never got touched by any staff member. House keeping, if you want to call it that, never swept, mopped, cleaned sinks, replaced towels or wash clothes. On the last day of our stay we decided to have an early 9am breakfast and go back to our room to rest and freshen up before checking out at 11am. While eating breakfast, an employee stopped at our table and handed me my car keys. This employee informed me that they had gone into our room without our consent or acknowledgement, took our luggage and personal items and loaded them into our personal vehicle. Now, keep in mind that this was two hours before we had to check out. We felt like our privacy was invaded and we were being forced to leave early. Guests of the resort are not permitted to drive their own personal vehicles to the rooms, so we had to get our personal hygiene items out of our vehicles and hick back up to our rooms to freshen up before our departure. We've stayed in luxury resorts all over the lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico and never once were treated in this manner. The Green-O resort is not an inexpensive resort at 4K per day... It lacked what we expected from a luxury resort. We will not be going back.
An update on my review. Kiona Turk (Green-O Management) and I had a telephone discussion about our visit to the resort. She was very understanding and apologetic regarding the issues that we encountered. Kiona mentioned that she and her entire team had a meeting to see what went wrong and how they can do better. I will say that the resort management made things right by us and we will give them another try. A special thank you to...
Read moreWe had high expectations for our stay at the Green O considering it cost over $4K a night to stay at one of their tree houses. The Green O has outstanding dining and the most beautiful architecture. ||What they got right is the out of the world delicious food by Chef Brendan and his entire team. The ingredients they use, presentation, flavor and the enthusiasm they bring every dish to your table just blew our mind. The breakfast, snacks and lunch menu brought another level of excellence to an already incredible dinner menu. The other thing they got right was their young staff of guides they have for each of their activities. Big shout out to Ethan and Connor for showing us how to shoot rifles and Jake for being incredibly patient with us during our first fly fishing trip. These young guys were knowledgeable, professional and extremely fun to hangout with. ||I can’t believe these talented chefs and the kitchen staff along with the guides are working at a poorly operated establishment like the Green O. There is something truly wrong with how things are being run with the concierge, main desk and service. We were promised a car for our entire stay and didn’t get one until we called and texted concierge about 6 times. No one seemed to know where our car was but they kept saying we should absolutely have one. Once we did get the car we weren’t provided with the gate code to reenter the Green O section. Housekeeping was at a bare minimum. They barely made our beds, throw pillows remained on the floors, food crumbs were on the patio furniture from the previous stay, did not take out any trash, replace coffee mugs or unwashed glasses, did not even take used glasses we drank cocktails from the previous nights. We dined in our treehouse twice and both times noticed there were no silverware and had to run down to the restaurant to get it. |Other frustrations were the A/C barely working and it was close to 100 degrees everyday. The sheets were linen, rough and itchy and we barely got any sleep. The hot tub wasn’t cleaned out and turning down the temperature didn’t work. On top of that our spa treatments were canceled due to the high temperatures since their spa tents were outside and they were never able to reschedule us for an early morning despite us being there for 5 days and following up on it everyday. ||We reached out to concierge many times and they seem to not know how to meet any of our requests. Instead they gave the same two bottles of wine we didn’t drink when we first arrived as an apology. We spoke to other hotel guests around the property randomly that experienced the same frustrations. The lack of attention to detail is truly abysmal and this place should not be considered a 5 star accommodations. I hope the Green O figures out a way to turn around their customer service since they are bringing down all the great front facing staff down with them. ||We did reach a breaking point when we were denied a late checkout. My husband went and spoke to the manager in person since other guests told us they did the same. We were credited back half of our last night’s accommodation and a $750 activities credit. We couldn’t wait to get out of there the next day and ended up going to the...
