Review for Rocky Mountain Lodge:
If you're looking for a charming, no-frills stay with a touch of nostalgia, the Rocky Mountain Lodge is a hidden gem worth checking out. This old-school motel may not have all the modern bells and whistles, but it more than makes up for it with its spacious rooms and surprisingly large, sturdy furniture.
The first thing you'll notice when you step into your room is just how much space there is. The rooms are generously sized, offering plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a long day of exploring the nearby mountains. The furniture is equally impressive—oversized dressers, a solid wooden desk, and a bed that feels like it was built to last. It's clear that the lodge prioritizes comfort and durability over trendy decor, and I appreciated the sense of history and character that came with it.
The bed itself was incredibly comfortable, with a firm mattress and thick blankets that made for a great night's sleep. The large armchair in the corner was perfect for curling up with a book, and the ample storage space made it easy to unpack and settle in.
One of the standout features of my stay was the bathroom. Despite the lodge's vintage charm, the bathroom was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The tiles gleamed, the fixtures were polished, and everything felt fresh and hygienic. It’s clear that the housekeeping staff takes pride in their work, and it made the stay even more enjoyable.
While the lodge may show its age in some areas, it’s clean, well-maintained, and has a cozy, welcoming vibe. The staff were friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall pleasant experience.
If you’re someone who values space, comfort, and a touch of retro charm over sleek modernity, the Rocky Mountain Lodge is an excellent choice. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest stays can be the most memorable. I’ll...
Read moreI chose Rocky Mountain Lodge for its glowing reviews and convenient location to Grand Teton and Yellowstone, but my family’s two-night stay didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Check-in & First Impressions Arriving on the afternoon of July 4th, we found the office closed (we arrived early evening - it was around 6pm). A traditional key was taped to a sheet of paper with my name on it—efficient but impersonal, and not the level of hospitality I expected for a holiday weekend. To top it off, the room we were assigned didn’t match the unit I had reserved online; fortunately the layout still suited our family, so we rolled with it.
Room & Amenities Inside, the space was exactly what other reviewers call “no-frills”: clean, comfortable beds, working mini-fridge and microwave, plus satellite TV. Perfect for a quick overnight recharge after a long day of exploring.
Housekeeping Where the lodge fell short was service. We were out all day on July 5th and returned to find the room untouched—no fresh towels or even a simple trash pickup. For a two-night stay that felt like a miss.
Check-out On departure morning the office door was open but unattended. I dropped the key in a basket and left without ever speaking to a staff member.
Bottom Line If you’re looking for an inexpensive (think 2 star pricing for 1 star quality) one-night crash pad with cozy beds and basic amenities, Rocky Mountain Lodge delivers. The drive to and from GTNP is also incredible. For anything longer—or if you value on-site staff and light daily housekeeping—you may leave disappointed, as we did. Here’s hoping management brings the personal touch back to match the lodge’s otherwise...
Read moreI am shocked that this facility has such high reviews and am incredibly disappointed I made my decision to stay here based on them. To pay $130.75 for a night when passing through, only to have the experience I did, is appalling. I stayed on a ground floor room at the far end, on a weeknight that’s seemed like they had little occupancy. However that evening I discovered, when the room above me was filled, that I could hear EVERY movement of the guests upstairs (at no fault of theirs). My hopes for a good night sleep after a long drive and the drive the next day was impossible. Not only were the sounds coming from upstairs intrusive, so were the noises from the road and driveway out front. Additionally, while the room was spacious, the bathroom was tiny and poorly lit. Towels were wore and WAY past their prime. In the dozens of hotels I stay in during this road trip, this was hands down the worst. I regret not giving my business to another establishment that was actually in town and in walking distance to things. Beyond disappointing and a complete...
