We stayed at the Longhorn RV Resort for 2 weeks. We wanted a park that did not feel like a parking lot even if it was a drive to the Tetons and Yellowstone . This park far exceeded our expectations. The RV sites are spread apart under huge Cottonwood trees. Our pull thru site was fairly close to another RV, but many had a lot of space between. The Wind River flows thru the back of the park. The park is beautifully maintained with a large pavilion with a huge fire pit and playground nearby . The front desk staff was friendly and even found me a back in site for one night when I messed up and arrived one day early. There’s a small gift shop and store inside the front office. The laundry is spic and span and had an ADA shower inside. My favorite part…..the 6 completely self contained shower rooms. (Shower, sink, toilet) Each morning they were cleaned to great standards. ( our bathroom shower is cramped) Best thing ..our site #7 was across the driveway from it. The drive to the Tetons is long (not to get to the gate, to get anywhere inside the park) The drive there made up for the distance. We made many trips there. I felt that Yellowstone was too far to be doable more than once. We found plenty of beautiful out of the way lakes and beautiful drives to keep us busy. The Wi-Fi was not reliable, so if you rely on good Wifi, this park might not be for you. The town of Dubois is charming with many choices for eating out, for grocery shopping and even a bowling alley/arcade/bakery/sandwich shop inside. Eat at the Cowboy Cafe. You’ll see why anytime you drive by. Never empty. Did I love this park? More than any other we have...
Read moreSpent a night at The Longhorn Ranch Resort Lodge on our way to Grand Teton National Park in the end of summer 2024.
We were on our way to Grand Teton National Park and it was getting late, so we needed to spend a night somewhere. Luckily managed to get a reservation same day, though everything around seemed to be pretty booked in those days.
The communication was very good, and I warned about our late arrival. It was past their posted office hours when we arrived, so it seems the lady at the office (excuse me, I don't remember the name) stayed a little late waiting for us, because once we arrived she helped us to check in and drove away. She was very nice, welcoming and helpful.
The adjoined cabins were nice, clean and have the Western decorations and charm. The night was cold, but the heater in the room was working well. Outside there are also fire pits, and I saw a group of people hanging out near a fire and enjoying it. The territory also seemed to be pretty nice, though we arrived in darkness, so couldn't enjoy it all, but their decorative lighting on the one hand, and the starry sky on the other provided a really nice feel. We enjoyed looking at the starts, and then having a good night sleep in the cabin.
The only thing I can think of that could be improved is the breakfast food, which was very simple with limited choice, and coffee, but other than that we had a great experience there and really liked it. We stayed for only 1 night before continuing our travel, but it seemed like a great place to stay for several days, so if we are to return to that area, we would definitely consider The Longhorn Ranch...
Read moreStayed at Longhorn RV Park for 11 nights and opted for a back in site next to the river – highly recommend it. The check in was quick and the camp staff were very personable. Our site was very level, had a combination of gravel and bark chips, and had some great shade trees for the afternoon sun. There was also a nice fire pit and picnic table and the outside was very peaceful if you like hearing the Wind River less than 50 feet from your rig. In the other part of the park, the sites are very nicely shaded by large trees. Another bonus if you travel with dogs, there is a nice dog run but also a lot of grass by the river and main road in to give them some good exercise. The bath and laundry facilities are adequate and we found the WiFi to be excellent for us during the entire stay. Would rate the park a 4.5 and is the nicest of the parks in this area.
Less than 3 miles to the small town of Dubois and just over an hour to the entrance of Grand Teton. The great thing is just how many great things you can do in Dubois – river float, Friday night rodeo, horseback riding in the Wind River Painted Hills, the National Museum of Military Vehicles (a must see), hiking toLake Louise (a short drive from the park). Dubois also has a nice grocery store and café. Will definitely be back here...
