My grandmother and I stayed overnight while biking the GAP trail.||Making a last minute reservation about 10pm the night before we left for that section of the trail, we decided we would wing it and bike there after getting off the trail in Connellsville. ||||After we fell behind our estimated arrival time, Rick began to call us out of concern periodically for about two hours until we finally heard the phone ringing. We informed him of where we were and that we would be there soon. When we arrived he had his truck running and was just about to head out and come find us, knowing the roads were quite risky in places to ride on. After making sure we caught our breath and wouldn't collapse, he gave us a tour of the BnB and gave us a bit of history about each room and making us feel at home.||||From providing Scrabble for us to play in the evening to making a superb breakfast and accommodating for my dietary restrictions, Donna and Rick really outshone all expectations. They radiated the spirit of hospitality and truly seemed to take a joy out of getting to know each of the guests personally, right down to memorizing our names and exchanging family history and stories. ||||Definitely ask them about their journey of creating the retreat center. You are in for a real treat!||||If you have any questions, just ask them! They are an incredible couple. ||Make sure to get your room using their website's booking system.||||Also, they have a free shuttle service and accommodate for bikers!||(We found this out only after we arrived because I failed to read through the webpage thoroughly.)||Definitely take advantage of it unless you are confident biking country roads with a high speed limit and can climb a hill that has over a 10% grade.||||P.S.||If you take the shuttle, ask Rick two things:|| 1. To take the scenic route on the way back to Connellsville|| 2. The window. He will know...
Read moreStaying at Seams Like Home Bed & Breakfast was a spur of the moment decision for me, but I’m glad that I made it. I stayed 2 nights to revisit the Ohiopyle area, an area where my family had vacationed for 29 years — until my wife’s passing 14 1/2 years ago. This was a great base for my stay. The hosts, Rick and Donna, were so welcoming. I made my reservation the evening before I arrived, and Donna called to welcome me and determine my preferences the next morning.|The location is ideal for a calm and peaceful getaway. Some things have changed since I was last in the area 14 years ago, but the things that drew me and my family here year after year have remained the same. It’s still rural Western Pennsylvania with real mountains (I’m from Central Ohio), adjacency to the Great Allegheny Passage, Ohiopyle, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water & Kentuck Knob, the Flight 93 Memorial, and so much more.|The facilities are very comfortable and inviting. The ubiquitous quilts add to the charm.I enjoyed my interactions with the hosts and other guests. I only had 2 days, so I need to return, preferably in the...
Read moreThrilled with my stay at this lil slice of paradise. My main goal was to visit Fallingwater. Changed my note last minute from a no-human-electronic-self check situation to this bed and breakfast. The reviews plus the fact that it’s one of few non-chain hotels on my path made this a good fit.||I don’t quilt and still enjoyed seeing this quilters’ retreat. Nice reminder some people still value making things by hand! ||Donna was an amazing host. The fact that she answers when you call the listed phone number is already more than what most hotels do these days. Room was big and comfy. Breakfast was so awesome. Nice ambiance and great company eating and chatting with other travers. ||Will remember this special visit and hope to return in the future. At least to visit Chubs the cat, Midas the dog, and see the other special friends on the property. Thank you Donna for making me feel...
