The bathroom door did not open...it hit the toilet. They moved us to another room, but it was not the room type we reserved. And they refused even a partial refund. Steer clear of the place...it was awful!
UPDATE: We were in fact moved to another room with 2 queens, but it as they stated, it was NOT the king that we paid for. Even if it is true that the room price for the 2 queens was the same as a king, and I have no reason to doubt that, the price wasn't the point. The point was that we wanted a KING bed (and a bathroom door that opened all the way) and didn't get it because of the problems with the first room. They fail to understand that. And THAT was why we asked for a partial refund. Do hotels not compensation for inconveniences that are the fault of the hotel? If the bathroom door in the first room had opened properly, we would have stayed in that room.
Also, with respect to the thank you card that we left, it was SPECIFICALLY left for the housekeeping department because they had in fact done a good job. They have misinterpreted this and concluded that we were satisfied with our stay. It was NOT an endorsement of quality regarding the room selection problems/defects.
Lastly, we did post another negative review on a different site. The reason for this is to protect consumers. Tesla didn't tell us that their bathroom doors don't open correctly--people need to know that there are serious problems with the construction. How else will they find out?
It seems they misinterpreted our actions, and sadly, because of the situation, we will not be staying there again. It's just time to cut our loses...
Read moreMy partner and I needed a place to stay for the night and this place was decently cheap plus it had a jet tub. Score, right? Absolutely not. The tub was filthy when we got out and theres no tile on the floor around it so I can only imagine how moldy the carpet must be. I felt gross so I went to take a shower. Turned on the water and it was brown. Plus the shower head was coming off of the wall. I didn’t even want to brush my teeth with that water. There were no plug-ins by the bed. The shelves kept falling out of the mini fridge. The ceiling is cracked in some places and looks like its crumbling in others. We walked out to pick up our dinner and the main lobby door was locked, but the door leading outside from the hallway wasn’t.
I’d absolutely advise against staying here.
UPDATE: I’m extremely disappointed in the owner response. You take zero accountability. We did not bring in any salts and we did not use any products in the jet tub that were not provided by the hotel. I ended up with an infection due to the dirty water. If your water has a rust problem, your business should not be open until it is fixed. Noting that both my partner and I left reviews being “misleading” is actually bullshit. We are two different people, both of which stayed at this place and had opinions. We are both allowed to share. I am disgusted at the way you operate and...
Read moreSo we came in November which is after busy season. We happen to come on a weekend where we were the only people in the building. That was awesome (although my wife was a little nervous). However, the staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and helped us with everything. They were always able to be contacted. They provided a nice little breakfast nook with different items, such as bagels, yogurt, coffee, and other things you could take on the road. This is a remodeled Days Inn that is still in process so the rooms are decent and clean but the hallways are dated. The mattresses are new and firm which I like a lot. The bathrooms are a little small but not bad. The water pressure is good. What I liked about this location, though was the best thing about the hotel. You were only about 13 minutes away from downtown Galena, plus you are only about five minutes away from Dubuque, Iowa over the Mississippi river. I’ve never been to Dubuque, but I found it to be a great little town with really great shops, some interesting historical stuff, and a great Bar-cade and some coffee houses. So you might come for Galena but you get Dubuque as a bonus. Plus, the cost of this place is extremely reasonable compared to Galena hotels. It’s not going to be luxury, but it’s gonna be a solid place to stay if you’re just popping in and out of shopping and...
