This is where my family and I have stayed now both times we’ve visited Durango. I won’t ever even consider staying anywhere else. Walter and Jodi, owners of the B&B, are true gems. Their kindness, helpfulness, and top-notch customer service speaks for itself through your encounters with them. I have one cool memory of this last trip where Jodi was asking what we had planned for the day. We told her we were going on a hike to see the Falls Creek Waterfall. “Wait here”, she said. Moments later approaching us with not only one, but four cans of bear spray. “You won’t need these, but better to be safe”. This may seem like a small, insignificant gesture, but it’s not to me, and not to my family. Their love for hospitality extends to the beautiful home and six rooms that they have ready for you to rent for your stay. The grounds are perfectly kept, and hammocks, fire pit, balcony and patio overlooking the San Juan Mountains, along with an array of different species of birds greeting your time outside are among the many beautiful things you will find here. They serve breakfast every morning at 7:30AM consisting of fresh fruit, muffins, pastries, fresh eggs, coffee and juice. Walter and Jodi ensure that the around the clock fresh chocolate chip cookies never run out either. Again, a gem of a place, and gems for owners.

The Inn keepers are incredibly kind and thoughtful. Our flight was suppose land at 3:30 pm. We ended up arriving at 1:30 am in the following day. We texted Walter. He left a person note to welcome us and clear signs to help us to find our room easily and connect to WiFi. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. It included bagels, muffins, hard boiled, coffee, juice, eggs, pastries, fruit… there are big-comfortable dining tables inside and outside on the deck. The back deck has lovely mountain views. There are lots hummingbirds and deer. The Inn is in a peaceful-quiet spot. You pull out of the short dirt road and go about 15 minutes straight down route 550 into downtown Durango for restaurants. The hot springs are about 8 minutes away. We sincerely appreciate the wonderful hospitality we experienced at this sweet inn.

Truly the most calming wonderful and relaxing experience. From the moment you arrive Walter and his wife are the sunshine of Country Shunshine Bed & Breakfast, they’re truly the kindest humans I’ve had the pleasure of encountering . You feel safe and welcomed during your stay . If it’s not the yummy chocolate chip cookies are always available day & night / waking up to a great breakfast spread, the hummingbirds that thrive against the stunning views Country Sunshine B&B feels like coming home. So many wonderful things to say about this gem with the most ideal location close enough if you want a night out into town for dinner and drinks but just far enough away where you feel like you’ve stepped into a magical oasis.

Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast is one of the best places we have stayed while travelling. This B&B offers a peaceful retreat with breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and thoughtful touches throughout. Jodi and Walter are THE nicest people you'll ever meet. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel like family. Their genuine kindness, attention to detail, and warmth helped make our stay truly memorable. Sunny, the dog is very friendly and playful, and spending time with him, petting and taking pictures, was one of the highlights of our stay.

The lodge itself is cozy, clean, and full of charm—every room feels like it has a story, and the large windows bring the outdoors in. The breakfast deserves its own 5-star rating. Each morning was a new gourmet delight, made with fresh ingredients and served with care. Their love for this place and for hosting shines through in every interaction. They’ve thought of everything to make guests feel at home - All amenities are top notch. Whether you’re watching hummingbirds from the deck, enjoying a soak under the stars, or simply relaxing in the common areas with a good book, this place has a way of making you slow down and savor the moment. If you're looking for a serene getaway with mountain charm, personal touches, and some of the best hospitality around, Country Sunshine B&B is the place. We can’t...
