This was our first time staying at this lake. The cottage we initially checked into had an issue with the bathroom. I texted the hosts and they immediately responded. They upgraded us to a different cabin so they could fix the issue without interupting our trip. It's also nice when host are friendly and responsive.
The cabins are nice and the location on the lake is beautiful. Plenty of good fishing to be had or just sitting on the deck watching the water. It's close enough to Traverse City that you will have endless options for food and other activities.
I almost didn't write a review bc I don't want others to know about how nice this place is haha.
P.S If youre bringing a boat youll need a Michigan Recreation Pass to launch it. So get one ahead of time bc dnr offices are closed on weekends. Otherwise go to Scheck's Place State Forest Campground which is nearby and get one from the dropbox....
Read moreOur cabin had new kitchen cabinets with soft close hinges and a quartz counter. The shower had slate on the walls and a really pretty pebble floor. The cabin was clean and well maintained. The sliding door on the bathroom did not have handles (which made it difficult for baby boomer hands to open and close). I texted the rental company, and the handyman came to install them within 2 days. Arbutus Lake is so beautiful. We rented a pontoon from them and took great nieces and nephews tubing. The deck has a very nice higher end table and chairs. It's about a 20 min drive to TC. My only complaint is the lack of a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries and a 2nd nightstand in the bedroom. Hooks by the door to hang coats would be useful as would someplace to store clothes besides under the bed. However, these are minor things compared to all of the positives. This is a beautiful, peaceful, and...
Read moreFamily of four adults stayed here in a late July week. We were pleased with the rooms. It was small but everything worked well (shower, AC, stove, fridge). Our unit had a small outdoor patio looking into the lake. Other units had bigger outdoor spaces. There was also plenty of shared spaces that people didn't use. Water access was great. The kayak and board rental was $40 a day, and we made good use of it and kayaked around the lake. The rental process could be a bit better. Overall, it's a nice property with a variety of units to fit different sizes. Everything is as advertised. The employee was easy to reach via text. The shared hot tub was warm, and pretty clean. With all that said, your experience may vary depending on the manners and volume of the other guests. When we were there, the cabins were about...
