We thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at The Oaks Resort. It is secluded enough that you can relax and enjoy privacy in this semi-rustic location, and our cabin had a large-screen TV for days when it rained. You could see a deer grazing, a large snapping turtle sticking his head up near the dock each night, and bluegill easily seen from the dock. A swimming island is visible and accessed nearby, and, of course, there are kayaks, a paddleboard, row boats, and a pedal boat which are all shared among the guests. This is exactly the kind of place we were looking for on Spider Lake, one of my favorite lakes in the Traverse City area. Read moreThe rooms are rated 1 due to the fact that the kitchen is unworkable...and the shower is in the second bedroom (Which is a sheet metal box). Lake is nice and close to a couple of nice areas for touristy things. Fishing on the lake is good. We came home a day early...possibly very misleading on the website?
