Hands down, this was the most beautiful, spacious campground that we have ever reserved. It is very peaceful and very quiet. The owners were extremely nice and very helpful. Deb took all of our information, visited our site, and let us in through the gate each time with a friendly smile and a big wave! Jim guided us up to our spot and helped me park just right. We stayed up in a deluxe site (111) with my uncle next to us (112) and couldn't have asked for better for our 40' 5th wheels. 50 amp service, fire ring with a border, rocks separating a tiered layout - it was gorgeous.||||Let's get the cons out of the way, as they were relatively minor:|| - If you look at the park map, you will see that there are golf cart trails. Naturally, I assumed that golf carts were allowed and brought mine. It doesn't say that they are not allowed anywhere on the website either (even though Deb seems certain it is, I can't find it). While registering, I had my proof of insurance to give them but was notified that golf carts are for seasonal campers only. Also, they only allow gas carts - no electric carts. That just seems backwards to me. Of course, I was disappointed as I was a "weekender" with an electric cart. It's not a large campground, but the hill between the pool and the sites is long enough that if we had our kids with us on this trip we definitely would have wanted the cart. Also, the playground was on the complete opposite side of the park from us which would have meant a lot of walking if we had the kids. Oh well, my fault for not asking. It still didn't ruin the weekend. Walking is good for you, right?|| - Mosquitoes were plentiful during the evening hours around the campfire. We had to dig out the bug spray. Once we had that, we didn't notice them anymore.||||Pros (to name a few)|| - Spacious sites|| - Easy back-in sites with an escort!|| - 50 Amp Service|| - Super friendly!|| - Locally owned and operated - Jim and Deb do it all!|| - Well maintained|| - Very clean|| - Friendly people - our neighbors, the owners - everyone was very friendly!|| - Quiet and peaceful.|| - Playground|| - Large 'catch and release' pond|| - Plentiful shade|| - I'm sure there is a lot more!||||Things to know:|| - I never specifically checked for WiFi, but I don't think there is any. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.|| - Verizon Wireless has 2 bars of 4G. Internet and voice was fine, no dropped calls or lost connections.|| - The playground is on the opposite side of the park and the pool is at the bottom of the hill. Be prepared to do some walking.|| - The site we had and my uncle had were just about level. Only off by a couple inches.|| - On the map, sites 114-117 weren't done yet. They are clearly still working on the sites, but didn't work on them for the duration of our stay so we didn't have any issues with noise.|| - If you're looking for a park with activities, parties, DJs, etc, this campground is not for you. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful escape - this is for you!|| - From what I understand, this campground was run down and abandoned when the new owners bought it and restored it. I have to say, you're doing an excellent job and you truly have a gift for this. Keep up the great work!||||I could go on and on about this place, but you'll have to see it to believe it. I will try to upload some pictures. One shows my site next to my uncle to show how far away he was for being my neighbor!||||Thanks, Jim and Deb for a wonderful weekend. If we are ever out that way we would...
Read moreOur first visit -- could not be better. Apparently the previous owners let this place slide a long way The current owners have been BUSY. Hilltop shaded sites' level or close to it, good road -- asphalt up to the sites, good hard-pack gravel at the sites. Immaculate showerhouse. and plenty of peace and quiet. The sites are a touch close, but that's what they inherited and while we were there they were staggering the campers. Good swimming pool, and a magnificent pond. As a fly fisher I caught (and released) a 15" bass and more hand-sized bluegill than I could count.
The store is small, but the hall is not, seating more than 100. Not a lot of frills - hayrides, fancy playground, restaurant, or other KOA required things. BUT, it is peaceful without hordes of golf carts and roaming packs of sugar-laden kids. The hosts are as friendly as it gets and helpful to a fault. My only complaint would be that the sites are up a short hill from the facilities. (The bath-houses are up with the sites.) Sometimes a short hill is a but much on my arthritic hips. But damn -- been a long time since I fished 'till I got tired of catchiing them! It's got a place on my permanent short-list. It will be even better. The current owners have had less than 2 years to do what they've down. Imagine what the coming...
Read moreVery disappointed! I made our reservation on May 22nd and we reserved site 111. When we arrived at the campground our paperwork said 111 but it was crossed out and instead 112 was written... I didn’t think much of it until we were taken to campsite 112, which was nice but not as nice as site 111. So I called the office and I said to the woman that we reserved site 111 and I was told the people in our site (111) extended their stay and all the sites are nice. I said yes the sites are nice but not as nice as the one we reserved. She, with sort of a snotty attitude, said to me that she would gladly refund our money if we weren’t happy. So I hung up, called RV village about 8 miles away and we decided to get a refund and stay elsewhere. Reserved means reserved. We should’ve been asked if we were ok with a different site or given a nicer site than the one we reserved, not just thrown where ever they felt like putting us. RV village is nice and much cheaper and not as strict and stuffy! Glad we made the decision to not stay with what they tried to stick us with and we will...
