The upkeep and cleaning were very poor. I chose this hotel as we were passing through and needed a place in the area to stay. We hoped to stay in Grove City but unfortunately there were no hotels with 2 queen bed rooms available. Upon entering the lobby there were 2 tall kitchen garbage cans catching water dripping from the ceiling where several tiles were missing or had large brown watermarks on them.
The desk attendant was friendly and helpful but the internet/computer system was extremely slow and she had to go between two different computers to pull up my reservation and run my credit card.
The room appeared dated but clean at first glance when we entered (this was at mid midnight with my 8 and 10 year old daughters who had been up since 6:30 am.). After putting down my bag I opened the restroom door to find a used washcloth laying on the floor under the bathroom counter/sink. At this point my daughters were yelling “oh gross I’m not sleeping on dirty sheets.”
Both beds had black hairs through them that looked like they were possibly from a man’s chest or leg hair. The sheets had either not been changed or were washed very poorly. We ended up all sleeping on top of the covers. My daughters had a very difficult time falling asleep as they kept asking my husband and I to look at lint or fuzz on their bed to assure them they were not bed bugs.
We had to begin getting ready at 5 am for my daughters to get ready and to their cheerleading competition on time. When I got my linens the wash clothes were dingy and worn thin. There was also an empty wrapper from someone’s soap that stayed in the room prior to us. At this point I chose to get dressed without showering and make coffee. Disappointment again when I opened up the coffee maker in the room and there was a dried up coffee pod again not cleaned up from a guest before us.
At 7:00 I went to the breakfast room to get a cup of coffee to find there was no coffee made….just empty canisters.
When I returned my room cards at 7:45 there was still no coffee and I did not have time to stop to buy a cup on our way to the competition because my daughters struggled getting ready from not sleeping well.
This was such a disappointment and a horrible way for my family to end an exhausting day and start another very long, exhausting day that will not end until almost 10 pm and arrival home after midnight.
After this experience I will not ever stay at a rodeway inn again or recommend one to my...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Rodeway Inn in Mercer, PA, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment I stepped into the room, I was greeted with a series of unpleasant surprises that left me questioning the hotel's standards and basic hygiene.
First and foremost, the condition of the bedding was appalling. The sheets were riddled with cigarette burns, making it abundantly clear that the management had no regard for the comfort and safety of their guests. As if that wasn't bad enough, there were unmistakable blood stains on the mattress pad, creating a deeply unsettling and unsanitary environment.
To make matters worse, the chair in the room was adorned with a mysterious satin stain that resembled something unspeakable. It was utterly revolting and made me question the cleanliness of the entire establishment. It felt as if someone had deliberately wiped their backside on it, leaving a visual reminder of their disregard for basic decency.
The floors were in no better condition, stained and discolored in numerous places. It was evident that proper cleaning and maintenance were sorely lacking in this establishment. The unkempt state of the floors only served to further amplify my disappointment and discomfort.
To add insult to injury, the thermostat in the room was dysfunctional. It seemed to have only two settings - either on and freezing cold or off and stiflingly hot. This lack of temperature control made it nearly impossible to find a comfortable environment to rest in.
Furthermore, the television in the room was non-functional, rendering any hopes of entertainment or relaxation null and void. I tried multiple times to get it to work, but to no avail. It was a frustrating experience, to say the least.
On a slightly positive note, I must admit that the breakfast area appeared to be relatively clean and the food was edible. However, this small consolation hardly compensated for the multitude of issues I encountered throughout my stay.
In conclusion, my stay at the Rodeway Inn in Mercer, PA, was an absolute disaster. From the cigarette burns and blood stains on the bedding to the questionable stains on the chair, everything screamed of negligence and lack of cleanliness. The stained floors, malfunctioning thermostat, and broken television only added to my discomfort and disappointment. I strongly advise anyone considering staying at this establishment to reconsider and seek alternative...
Read moreIf I could, I would rate this Rodeway less than zero! This was a horrible stay from the outset! I preliminarily booked an accessible room and reported we were travelling with a dog. When we showed up, we were told we couldn't have our pre-booked 2 double, accessible room with the dog, and were given a king dog friendly room.
The room ...#133...was abhorrent! There were dog stains everywhere! The bed cover was replete with burn holes...everything was dirty and unacceptable! We are Diamond Choice members, and this is how we get accommodated...you gest!
I went to the front desk to complain about the filthy carpet and room. I was met with a front desk clerk who was both arrogant and snappy! She asked me what I expected for a dog room at a hotel built in 1980? Are you really kidding? I expect a modicum of cleanliness... I expect dog pee spots to be cleaned with a mechanical spot remover and some powerful disinfectant! (Geeze! I hope it was dog pee and not human! Questionable!) I expect a room that doesn't smell and doesn't make your skin crawl because it is so very rank.
The front desk clerk relented a bit in her arrogance after she realized we were to have a 2 double bed room...not a King. She switched us to another quite disappointing room that met our original room type criteria. However, the room wasn't much cleaner, but had fewer dog stains. Unfortunately, we had to run the water faucets in both the tub and sink for approximately 15 minutes before a brown flow of water dissipated and finally flowed a relatively normal clear color. The toilet flushed brown for a terribly long time!
We slept in our daily street clothes! The cleanliness of the room had us feeling the possibility of disease, germs and bacteria...the unfitness of the room for comfortable occupancy. We should have just left...it wasn't even fair to expose our dog to the squalor.
Never again, Mercer! 30 years a faithful Choice Hotel traveler. Well... I'm giving up my Choice Mastercard and my Choice Privilege membership! I know I wouldn't get this treatment at competing...
