We really enjoyed this luxury getaway. The tents were decorated beautifully which made it feel truly luxurious. The plunge pool and deck was tranquil and made for a nice spot to truly relax and unwind. The attention to detail was very well thought out with a speaker, cards, bar accessories, cooking utensils, nice shampoo’s and conditioners , bath bombs, you name it she had it! The tents were clean and primarily critter free besides a few small bugs but your in the wilderness so what do you expect? However since this is a review there are somethings that didnt come up to par. The attention to detail was amazing but they do not provide pots or pans so you will need to bring your own. We are from MN so that was not possible we had to make do with some foil on the grill. We stayed in Tent #5 out of all the tents this tent had the worst view in my opinion. In the photos it looks like all the tents are at an elevated view. Tent 5 is not it is ground level and looks over a watering hole that is a pretty blue color but lots of dirt and dead plant life. You pay the same price for all of the tents so you might as well pick the ones with the view. I would say all of them are a good choice besides 5. Tent 5 also provides the least amount of privacy. It is lined up with the main road and while the owners place a partician by the pool the foliage is sparce and we had alot if people drive by and look into our space. But remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The watering hole didnt have an odor but I do believe being that close to the water attracted more bugs. Our pool lights didnt work so there was no night swimming for us. They mention in there welcome book that you can do a romantic night swim with floating candles. As an out of state guest i didnt being floating candles and none were provided. In my opinion if you are going to suggest something like that you should provide the candles that you deem appropriate for your pool as I dont think many people will think of it. The outdoor shower was absolutely amazing but I got surprised by a few red wasps that flew out from behind the shower rod. My husband ended up killing 6 of them. The mud daubers were plentyful and making nests up in the tent, lights, and deck. They wont bother you but are annoying to battle. All in all we would be back but would not stay in tent 5 we were disappointed with some aspects and were frustrated that we were paying the same money as everyone else with a...
Read moreStayed at Palo32 for our 20th anniversary and it was by far one of the best decisions we made as the place to celebrate. We looked at celebrating in Mexico, Europe and other places outside of Texas and found some very nice options, to be honest every place we looked at would be accompanied with "noise". We wanted somewhere tranquil and exclusive to adults that would really allow us to connect without all the distractions. Palo32 did not disappoint. The owners put a whole lot of thought into the accommodations and it was breathtaking from the moment we entered the ranch. The trails, views, wildlife, activities and luxury tents all provided a sense that we were on another planet. I would recommend tent 2 if you want to witness a spectacular sunrise and hike up one of the trails to watch the sunset. I felt like the owners made it a point to respect our privacy, and only noticed them while they were engaged in getting another tent ready for guests. If we needed anything or had any questions the owners were prompt in their response. We recommend stopping at the nearest HEB to get all the food and drinks you need because you will not want to leave once you arrive. There are a few restaurants in the area and we stopped by one of them for dinner one night, needless to say we should have just cooked our own because we couldn't wait to get back to our tent. There is a liquor store down the road off I-20 and a few places you can get essentials but the closest HEB is in Stephenville. (about 20-30 minutes away) The next time we visit we won't be going out to eat! If you like star gazing bring a telescope and if you enjoy watching the wildlife bring a pair of binoculars. If you plan on hiking I would recommend bringing a decent pair of stiff sole boots with ankle support, Hey Dudes wont cut it. The kitchen did have all the necessary cookware but I would recommend bringing a small pot if you plan on cooking anything outside a pan. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights, our next trip will be extended for sure!
To the owners of Palo32, thank you so much for an amazing experience! You have created something amazing in North Texas and we look forward to another visit this year! Do not be surprised if you see a sudden uptick in reservations or inquiries in the...
Read moreWe recently celebrated our 26th anniversary at Palo 32 and couldn’t have chosen a more perfect spot for romance and seclusion. From the moment we arrived, we noticed and appreciated the thoughtful little details—from the beautifully designed high-end décor to the luxury bath products that elevated the stay.
Our days were filled with relaxation: floating in the private plunge pool under the Texas sun, enjoying music through the Bluetooth speaker on the deck, and gazing at the expansive night sky once evening fell. I also took advantage of a referral to Roaming Sage Massage, and Lauren’s “in-tent” Swedish massage was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend booking her while your partner relaxes on the deck—it was the ultimate indulgence.
We loved that Palo 32 is set up for cooking real meals. Between the flattop on the grill, the side burner, and the air fryer/toaster oven, we were able to prepare full dinners and warm up premade items we’d picked up at H-E-B on the drive in. It felt like a perfect mix of luxury and practicality.
The property itself offers small hikes with beautiful views, and we spent time cooling off in the pool, lounging on the deck, and retreating indoors when it warmed up. The split AC units kept the space comfortable most of the time, and afternoons cooled quickly once the sun dipped behind the hills. We stayed in #4 for stunning sunsets right from our deck; if you’re more of a sunrise person, I’d imagine those cabins offer a slightly cooler morning view.
The only two very minor negatives were the warmth during peak afternoon hours and the occasional highway noise, especially at night and early mornings. Both faded quickly compared to all the positives, and neither detracted from our overall experience.
For us, Palo 32 was the perfect romantic escape—just 2.5 hours from home, yet it felt like a true getaway. We rarely revisit destinations, but this is one we would...
