On our family vacation to Lancaster County, we wanted to stay somewhere that will allow us to appreciate the local culture and scenery. We are so glad we chose to spend four nights at Stony Hill Barn. The barn is situated on a large property with a farm. Our family (4 adults and 2 young children) occupied the entire second floor of the barn (the first floor is used by the host's family), which has 2 large bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a complete kitchen, living room, and dining area. There's a cloth washer/dryer so we could get our laundry done during our stay. There's a lot of space to stretch out. The beds are all very comfortable. The entire place was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated (country charm). The kitchen is stocked with supplies and breakfast items are brought in by the most wonderful host, Sara, on a daily basis. There's spectacular view from the yard overlooking the countryside. There's a play structure for the kids, and the host's dogs and cats provided endless joy and entertainment for our children.||||Yes it is a bit of a drive from the area attractions, but for us it is definitely worth it to stay here for the peace and tranquility it brings. We could not have asked for a better...
Read moreThis was the perfect place for our weekend family trip. The setting was incredibly relaxing, and the hosts, Dan and Sara and their children, were very gracious. The apartment is very clean, nicely decorated, and makes one feel instantly at home. The surrounding property is gorgeous with farmland, horses, chickens, and goats. The breakfast provided is great including some very delicious homemade bread. The location of the property was also a good starting point for seeing some of the sites in the area. It was a close drive to the action but far enough away you get to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. Our children especially had fun playing with the Stoltzfus’ children. They were excited to make new friends and help feed the chickens. It was cute to watch them play with the new kitten and puppy. Overall the trip was very memorable. We are already thinking of when we can go back. A very special thank you to the kids for making our children feel so much at home. Everyone had a really great time! I would definitely recommend this property for a family or small group (up to 6 or 8 people). This is a much better, more relaxing choice than a hotel if you are planning trip to Lancaster. Until next...
Read moreWe stayed here for 5 nights in March, 2018. Do Not think "Barn" . Yes, it is on the 2nd floor of a converted barn but inside you'd never know it! Absolutely lovely, 2 large bedrooms each with it's own bathroom; also a laundry room, kitchen, dining area and a living room with a large flat screen TV. Lovely quilts and antiques. Now it is on the 2nd floor and if you can't do stairs reconsider. Breakfast is breakfast pastries (very good), orange juice, milk, sodas, homemade bread, a variety of fresh fruits and cereals, butter, and eggs if you wish to cook them. There are 2 lovely dogs to play with outside, they are not allowed in the B&B itself. Maya, the larger one, really likes a belly rub! Great therapy for those of us who miss our pets back home. I highly recommend it. If you are worried about your allergies in a converted barn, don't. The place is...
