ramblin pines is aweful..the staff there are very unfriendly..the manager gary is very unprofessional and makes up the rules as the idiot is speaking.the camp grounds are very dirty and unkept.the 2 older fellows that delivered my firewood dropped the whole cord behind my rv ,which kept me from backing up.so i naturally told the bafoons to move it and asked why they would drop the wood directly behind my rv?they just muttered some words and walked away....same night they had a band that played well after 11pm that was so loud you had to scream at each other to talk at your camp site.even past the gates to enter/exit camp ground you could hear the band just as loud.the staff/management there have no respect for any campers,if you want the worse experience ever go to ramblin pines...update..i broke down and visited ramblin pines one more time after because some friends wanted to see for themselves.as i was setting up the same two older bafoons walked up and turned my radio down(which i could hardly hear)..i asked the bafoons not to touch my radio again and if it was loud just tell me and i would turn down.they said they had a complaint(was 3pm)lol.both neighbors to my right and left said they couldnt hear anything.aswell as my 2 neighbors in front of me.shortly after the same 2 bafoons and the manager gary walked up and told me to pack up.they were kicking me out...when i asked what for ?they said they didnt have to give me any reason...i was the better man.i walked up the hill and asked all 3 what the issue was and how can we settle things as adults.they repeated some he said/she said nonesense and lies and i called them out on it ,also told all 3 what i thought of them and packed up and left..i had a much better wknd not being there.all the campers that witnessed all this going on made a point to say they would never go back..the 2 other campers i went with stayed the wknd and refuse to ever go back there aswell...koa is a much better experience.it may cost alil more, but you know what to expect.encountered many at the koa campgrounds and a few others campgrounds that refuse to go to ramblin pines for the same reasons...biggest reason is the manager gary the unprofessional ignorant /rude staff....their just not ppl friendly and the whole place is run down and not kept at all..Response to owners reply -kept my review as honest as possible..as an avid camper for over 40 years it was an embarrassment to be told to leave a campsite.especially for no reason at all.i feal the staff there wanna bully campers around and a lack of respect for campers.when their called out on their nonesense all they do is ask you to leave.to ad merit to my review ,why would they drop a cord of wood directly behind my rv?is that not bullying or disrespectful to me?was backing rv up when they arrived and stopped to tell them where to put it.i dont have to explain my thoughts at that time.my last encounter there was the same two idiots that came on my campsite and turned my radio down..i told both not to ever touch my radio again.if it was loud just say so.i would of turned it down.both idiots know the truth.it was bs and they wanted to bully me.shortly after the idiots walked down with gary and asked me to leave.asked why?got no reply other than they dont have to give me a reason.once again they tried to bully me and disrespect me and realized they couldnt..i called all 3 of the idiots out face to face and the 3 put their tails between their legs.gary looked like he was about to cry..hes lucky i didnt drop him after all the nonesense.i was the better man..i simple called all 3 out and simply packed up and left...to answer the gap in my review is recently ive encountered many that have shared the same experience at ramblin pines as i did.the bullying and the disrespect to campers from staff.didnt feel it was that serious enough to write a horrible review over my experiences..im finding out nothing has really changed there and campers need to be aware..the bullying and disrespect from staff...
Read moreEDIT JUNE 2025: I'm very happy to edit this review! Originally my review was 5 stars, but reduced to 1 star after the campground felt like a hostile environment with so many political flags, gun flags, etc. I am happy to report it is back to the RP we knew and loved as they have a new flag policy so the campground is back to feeling peaceful and family friendly! We have a seasonal site and have avoided coming for a full month. Our walk this morning with the dogs felt so peaceful. What a wonderful change. So happy to have RP back as our happy place of peace ☺️
We used to absolutely love Ramblin’ Pines—it was by far our favorite campground. You won’t find a cleaner or more well-maintained campground anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic. After waiting four years, we were thrilled to finally secure a seasonal site here. The ice cream and pizza are fantastic, and the playgrounds are always updated and enjoyable for the kids.
However, since 2023, we've noticed a significant shift in the atmosphere, which has been disappointing. What once felt like a safe, welcoming, family-friendly environment has changed in ways that make us hesitant to recommend it to families with young children.
One of the major changes we've observed is the increased presence of political signage and flags throughout the campground. In the past, we specifically sought out campgrounds that avoided political displays, in order to maintain a neutral and inclusive environment for all guests. Gettysburg Farm, for example, does a great job of creating that kind of space. Unfortunately, Ramblin’ Pines no longer feels that way to us.
Camping is, for us, an escape from the stress of everyday life. We come to relax, connect with nature, and allow our children to play and make friends in a peaceful setting. The overt political messaging we now encounter here—including a neighboring sign expressing a strong stance on guns—creates discomfort and detracts from that experience. We believe that keeping political views private helps maintain a more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone.
More troubling, after our neighbors learned we were liberal, we began experiencing harassment, including having waste thrown onto our site. While the management did state that cameras were installed to identify the responsible parties, we were never provided with any follow-up or resolution.
We deeply miss the Ramblin’ Pines we once knew—a place that felt like a second home. Lately, however, it feels like unless you fit a very specific mold—conservative, straight, religious, and pro-gun—you may not feel welcome here. As a family that includes LGBTQ+ members, this environment makes us feel uneasy and unable to fully be ourselves.
We hope that in the future, Ramblin’ Pines considers returning to the neutral, family-oriented approach that made it such a special place for so many. It truly used...
Read moreThis Campground is one of by far the best campgrounds we have in the state of Maryland. There are a few caveats to it that you need to know ahead of time which I will share here however, it's simply a matter of following the rules and you won't have an issue.
The campground is most easily accessible off of Interstate 70 taking the Maryland 94 Road in not 97. Especially if you have a motorhome because of some of the grades and turns. Feel free to take 97 just understand that you're going to pull funny grades and you're going to have some Wicked turns especially for the Newbie that may not be so friendly.
You must get to the campground before they close, if you get there after they close or after security leads the chances of you getting back into the campground if by chance they let you in the first time will be zero and you have to wait till the next morning to get a key card. I knew better checked in late made it before the security guard left but had to go back out and in the process ended up taking the hike from outside of the gate to my site. Now I will tell you that it's not a bad walk, as I walk to the back of the park and it only took me about 3 minutes however very inconvenient when you have to do it and you don't have a flashlight.
Now that those two things are off the way there are plenty to do for everybody. The area has a 24-hour McDonald's, plenty of gas if you need to fuel up the vehicles, you have a Food Lion and some other general merchandise tight places not far off of Route 94. Easily again accessible off of I-70. If you're coming from the 95 295 neck of the woods the easiest way up would be Route 32 to I-70 and then take 94 over to the park. If you're coming from the west of course just run I-70 and if you're coming from the north of Baltimore simply run 695 around to I-70 West and the campground is about 21 minutes away from 695 and I-70.
From the arcade, exercise room, mini golf, laundry, plenty of bathhouses, and all the wildlife you can handle this is an absolutely beautiful wonderful place to stay if you're looking to open the windows and smell the fresh air. Site so well shaded so during the summer months it is possible to open the windows in the evening without having to run air conditioning. The only inconvenience that I've ever had staying here was the park going dark but that wasn't their fault it was BG&E not having enough power going to the Transformer.
If you are looking for a place to hold a church Gathering the staff is super most accommodating as most of them I believe are good Southern Christian Folk.
I posted a few pictures of our site so you can see that they are really spacious down in the neck of the woods I chose and even the back in sites are nice sized and...
