I had the most wonderful stay at the Inn at Salem Country Club! I was in the area for work visiting all the historic sites of southern New Jersey and needed a place to stay for one night. Most of the hotels by the NJ Turnpike had gotten lousy reviews as being run down and bad service, the small B & B's were both filled for the weekend and all the places in Cape May were either full or charging high prices for just one night.||||I Googled 'small hotels in southern New Jersey' and The Inn at Salem Country Club came up and I was able to look over the site. I was lucky that the room that I wanted, the Meadow Room, was open that evening. They did let me know that they had a party that night at the Inn that would be going on until 9:00pm but could check in early if I wanted. Since I would be arriving at 10:00am that morning, we arranged a early check in. What I liked about the Inn is that they don't gouge on prices like other hotels did in the area. It was $125.00 a night with a small discount for being a single person and that was very fair.||||Yvonne, one of the owners of the Inn with her husband, met me early, gave me the key and I settled in quickly. I was able to get off on my trip running around visiting historical homes and lighthouses. There is a lot to see in Salem and Cumberland Counties. The Inn is just south of Downtown Salem, which itself is a small sad downtown with so much potential due to the historic look of the town. The Inn is right on the bay and offers the most spectacular views on a sunny day. It is right on the beach which is just outside the Inn and there is plenty of seating on the porch and lawn.||||The Meadow Room was a nice room with views of the meadow outside and a slight view of the bay. The furnishings were a real mix of looks but the bed was soft and firm. When I arrived back that evening I had enough time to see the sun set over the bay and that is just spectacular! What a view from the lawn in the back. The sunrises and sunsets on the property are just breathtaking.||||When the party was over, it was so nice and quiet and I slept so soundly that night. I must have slept eight hours which I never do and woke up that morning early to see the sunrise just outside my bedroom. It was just amazing.||||In the morning, Yvonne ordered my breakfast from a place called Silver Diner, which is just outside of downtown. The breakfast was of pancakes and fresh fruit and she had orange juice and tea ready for me as well. It was so nice to just eat on the porch overlooking the bay. Talk about a view! Since there are only three rooms in the Inn, I ate by myself and just relaxed and watched the boats on the bay. It was the perfect place to eat breakfast on this sunny clear morning.||||What I liked best is that Yvonne and her husband don't rush you out and you can just relax and enjoy your breakfast. When I left that morning, I felt as if I had been away for a week and not just one night I was so refreshed and relaxed. The check out was easy and I gave Yvonne my key as another group was coming in to set up another party for that night.||||I highly recommend the Inn at Salem Country Club for a place to just decompress away from TV and computers and just relax. I felt like I had been away for a week. It offers so much for a small hotel and the personal service is wonderful.||||Thank you both for an excellent stay...
Read moreThis is the second time this year I have stayed at The Inn at Salem Country Club and it won't be my last. I stayed here again after a wonderful restful and relaxing stay in June and I wish I could have extended the stay longer. What a relaxing evening.||||Yvonne and her husband could not be better hosts and are so helpful at check in. They make everything painless. The room I love is the Meadow Room with its views of the woods below and in the early morning the most amazing sunrise if you care to wake up for it. The room was spotless and well stocked with amenities. The bed is firm and comfortable, and I swear both times I have stayed here I have only stayed one night but it felt like I had been away for a week. It is so relaxing and quiet here. I got one of the best night's sleeps in a week here.||||In the morning I followed the sunrise outside my room with the most wonderful pictures. Yvonne takes your breakfast order the evening before and the Diamond Grill Diner, a diner outside downtown Salem, delivers the food promptly. The breakfast was excellent. I had French Toast with a side of sausage and fresh fruit in which everything is delicious. The table was set just outside the terrace in the back with beautiful views of Delaware Bay. It was too cold to eat outside but this was just as nice.||||They set the table for me and I was able to relax and eat in peace and not rushed. With wonderful food and excellent views, it is a very nice breakfast experience. I checked out later that morning and the bill was sent to my computer. The one thing about The Inn at Salem Country Club is that they do not gouge the customer with high prices for the rooms. Yvonne and her husband are very fair with the rooms and make the stay as pleasant as possible.||||I look forward to future stays at The Inn at Salem...
Read moreBeautiful venue but buyer beware after they have your deposit. We held our Son's wedding here and once they signed the contract there were at least 14 items on the inclusive package to be determined. We did not get to see the contract before our Son was pressured to sign the contract or lose the venue for a Sunday/Mother's Day (not a highly booked day) evening wedding. Things that we and my Son were thought to be included like picking up the cake from a local, recommended bakery as a courtesy wound up being an extra charge, champagne flutes, chairs for the outside ceremony, chair covers inside chairs were extra cost to name a few. Had to use their preferred florist, caters, DJ etc. The included flora centerpiece was greens and a lantern no flowers. Darien the Salem River Inn's wedding planner and the venue owners did not communicate well with each other and we had to repeat instructions often i.e. the flowers were suppose to be left on the arbor for sunset pictures, Yvonne brought them into the hall and hung on rail before that. More importantly, Darien took personal information from the Bride's hand about our guest/MC and then proceeded to send him a contract telling him he had to pay the venue a percentage of what he made ($0 it was a gift to the Bride & Groom)because he was using his own professional equipment. We are also still waiting to hear from the bakery as promised by Yvonne, Jim & Darien because the cake was not done correctly. So, be prepared to pay a lot more then you contracted for, they will nickle and dime...
