Loved the campsites here they were clean and we'll kept. We stayed here for 2 days and visited Lehman caves and Wheeler Peak. Both were amazing and I can't wait to go back next year. Make sure to get reservations for the caves several weeks to a few months ahead of time otherwise you'll miss out. I made reservations almost 2 months out and the only day there were spots available was Sunday morning.
We tried to get to Wheeler Peak summit but the winds were just to strong that morning. Maybe 40-60mph and a cloud was forming around the summit. Make sure to be cautious as you go up as it's 13,063ft so take your time. The trails up the the base of the summit are still amazing and well worth the trip to the top. You can do about a 4 mile loop just on them and visit Stella lake and have a...
Read moreSites are great. Facilities are primitive. There's NO water, potable or otherwise, during our visit August 2022. There is water faucets, they're just turned off. Toilets are outhouse type facilities. There's no sinks in the toilet structure or campground as far as I've seen. Flys and smell of the outhouse can be a bit much, but part of the primitive nature of this type of facility. We're here the nights. Temperatures are great. We're to is monsoon season. So far, monsoon's translated to cloudy sky's, choker temperatures, and light sprinkles. It's very pleasant. There's minimal insects disrupting or stay. There's a creek lining the camp. It's right beside our site. The sounds of running water add to the enjoyment and relaxation Upper Lehman...

There is a very fast moving, loud stream on South edge. Our camp was 50 ft from it, absolutely beautiful as it was wildflower season. There are nice, clean vault toilets, picnic tables, and water faucets coming next year, they are being installed this summer. BRING YOUR WATER! You can get some at Lehman Cave visitor center and at the RV waste dump if you have containers. This visitor center also has a good cafe and souvenir shop. There is no food in the gateway town of Baker available except for some prepackaged camping food at the...
