Campsites themselves are decent and level. Campground rules are clearly not enforced - most notably the minimum age for driving a golf cart and the concept of there being a speed limit.
This is the only place I've been where I was almost run over by a boat on a trailer towed by a truck in the road immediately in front of our site.
If you walk, be prepared for people to come within inches of you at full speed in golf carts - regardless of whether they are on the correct side of the road or not. Also steel yourself for people to curse at you at night while driving their golf carts intoxicated.
Another popular phenomenon here is to have a boat full of people blasting music on a trailer, being towed through the campgrounds.
If you are accustomed to campground etiquette and consideration for others, you will be disappointed. If you want to park your camper, start drinking Natural Light at dawn, then operate motor vehicles and boats in populated areas while sharing your favorite music at maximum volume, this is the place for you.
2022 Update If you calibrate your expectations, this can be quite an adventure- for our part, we are returning for Labor Day 2022.
DJs Saturday and Sunday nights. No live music (cheap alternative). Pre-teens whizz by at 20 mph+ after dark on golf carts. Walking after dark an exercise of faith.
With regards to calibrated expectations, keep in mind this is a campground for everyone: monied rednecks, middle class rednecks (mythical and rarely sighted), and the more common rednecks.
Underage drivers make up approx. 85% of golf cart traffic after dark. Still no enforcement of stated campground rules with regard to common traffic laws (STOP signs routinely disregarded by cars, trucks, golf carts) in daytime or nighttime conditions. Campground roadways further descend into chaos as late morning transitions to early afternoon then revert to 100% laissez-faire as pre-teens assume the wheel with packed golf carts after hours with wanton disregard for life.
One (1) of the three (3) pool umbrellas is manned by a Goose Creek representative UNDER A TREE (double shade, selfishly requisitioning one of three total tables available to premium-paying guests) and they selectively enforce no small children with adult on the water silde rule while chaos otherwise resumes.
If you spend time here, you must embrace your inner redneck and bask in the glory of NC's...
Read moreIt’s a so/so park. It’s mostly 90% residents and only a handful of camping/travel RV spots. They are all up on a hill by the lake. Many of the sites were having power issues. The pool and slide is in great need of repair. Some kids were scratched or injured or pants ripped going down the slide. The slide hours seems random and needs to be posted if you provide and advertise this amenity. They will shut it off and you are just out of luck if you plan to come later in the day after the pool guy leaves. Also apparently you need a pool band to swim but here is the thing...No one tells you except some guy rudely sitting around at the pool. Like um no, no one mentioned to us and there was a large amount of families here for a week event. None of us were given the pool bands or told about them, not written on the pool rules or gate, not on any documentation from the park. So how is anyone supposed to know. Or that some random guy in the pool is someone who works there who isn’t wearing anything identifying him as an employee/worker. They can have a simple badge or lanyard or something to identify them. And learn how to properly approach and speak to guests about their bands. Just nicely ask hey did you guys gets your bands from the front desk? No? Ok just make sure to ask them on your way out for your next visit to the pool. And walk off. That’s pretty easy compared to the obnoxious or rude response some have received.
Also be EXTREMELY careful walking the sidewalks by the pond. It is crazy dangerous and gonna break someone’s neck!!!
Anyway there is just not much here to make me come back even with our TT trails...
Read moreNo toilet seat covers in the women's bath house and the air was either turned off or it was not working. Roads throughout park are awful...liked to have broke my ankle on uneven pavement (they finally did do some patch work on the roads throughout the park (PATCH WORK ONLY)). The game room and little diner still closed (finally opened that back up with restrictions)...the list goes on...in the title of their name "Goose Creek FAMILY Campground" the word FAMILY should be removed as it would better fit the atmosphere of the campground. Folks, if you're looking for major holiday fist fights due to alcohol induced campers, all night partying, loud music playing golf carts flying up and down the roads...and I save the best for last...if you like paying an extra $150-$200 every year on your annual rental site due to "CORPORATE INCREASE" and don't look for any improvements of any type or added staff to account for this increase, then this is the campground of your dreams. This is a CORPORATE owned campground not a FAMILY owned. There is a BIG difference between the two! So with that said, it all depends on what you're looking for...just another bit of icing on the cake...during the PANDEMIC, you would have thought that CORPORATE would have shown some compassion for their annual tennants by either reducing their annual rates a little or no rate increase at all for the following year 2021. But again, this is just another one of the differences between a CORPORATE owned and FAMILY...
