We were camping here for the 4th of July weekend. This was our first and last visit to this campground. We have been to numerous campgrounds and this is the only one that I have had to write a negative review. The campground is very small and the facilities are not up to date. There is a pool, a small playground with out-dated equipment, a 2 minute ride with Yogi Bear around a small circle within the campground, a small game room, and a room with a 16 inch TV and videos that they call a theater room. If you want to visit a nice Yogi Bear campground, go to the one that is close to Natural Bridge in Virginia. There is a lot more there for the kids to do and the campground is much nicer. Also, if you like to listen to a train come by every 30 minutes, then you need to visit here. The train track is located only a few yards behind the campground. It's very relaxing hearing the sound of trains throughout the day and night. We brought our golf cart with us as we do at every campground we visit. We rode around the first day even though the campground was so small that we really did not need it. While riding, we passed by employees that worked there and even talked with some of them. We were leaving the pool that evening and my son was driving the cart back to our camper. We happened to ride by the owner/manager's residence who was sitting on the porch. He ran down to us as we were passing. I thought he was coming out to greet us but to my surprise, that was not the case. The first words out of his mouth were "Number 1--there are no golf carts allowed here and Number 2--he is not old enough to drive it". What a welcome! He was a very arrogant person, with a non-friendly, non-personable attitude and definitely no people skills when it came to dealing with his visitors here. The way we were approached and spoken to was uncalled for. I have never been to a campground that did not allow golf carts. Was this information on the website? Definitely not. Was it on the information and rules sheet that we received when we checked in? Yes. Did we read it the first day we were there? No. So, did we know that no carts were allowed? We did not know. Do you think we would have hauled this cart with us if we had known no carts were allowed? Definitely not. The owner explained that he did not have insurance to cover accidents and golf carts. I completely understand that but people need to be made aware of that information that before they come here. The owner went on to explain that if a person had a medical condition and needed a cart, then he would allow it. What doctor is open on the 4th of July to get a medical note if there was a medical condition? I don't even know the owner's/manager's name and I don't care to, but my suggestion to anyone working with the public is to have all information about the campground posted online. It's also important to have good public relation skills in dealing with customers also. The owner/manager is definitely lacking in both of these areas. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. If you have a cart, definitely...

When you hear the name Yogi Bear, you think cartoon for kids right? So one would think that a Jellystone Yogi Bear RV park would be designated more for kids too? That isn't really the case with the Jellystone park in Emporia, VA. The older couple that own the park are nice folks. A bit grumpy at times, but overall nice folks. There is one gal, however, who can't seem to be bothered by campers that are already there. For one, she smokes like a chimney. Sits on her butt outside most of the day and smokes one cigarette after the other. She was always NASTY to my son and his fiance whenever they went in the office for anything. I had mail sent there and half the time she couldn't be bothered to check the mail for me. They frown upon kids there having any fun. The putt-putt golf is closed during the cold months, even when it isn't cold its not open. The game room rips you off of your change and the video game glitch out. The grounds are clean and nice for the most part, but the biggest gripe I have are the TRAINS! There is a railroad track right behind the park and they go all hours of the night. Some pass by "fairly" quiet and you hardly notice them at all. Others are HOLY COW LOUD!! Oh and one final note, their Wi-Fi sucks! The first week we were there it worked awesome, but the longer you are there the slower it gets. They also make a point of telling you no Netflix. Did that stop me? Heck no. I watched Netflix anyway. Overall, if you go there by yourself, its decent, just don't stay there with...

This camp ground is what it is. My family and I stayed for 4 nights thinking we were going to keep our days busy. The pool was nice but foggy, wearing goggles underwater was like swimming in a cloud. The hours of the pool at 11am to 6pm. Which means if you wanted to swim after the heat died down, you were out of luck. Most camping areas close their pool at 8, so it was alittle surprising. When we inquired the staff about the hours, they said it's because "nobody swims after 6" but the other 2 families we happened to meet both said they would like to go eat dinner around 6 and get back into the pool.
The jump pad is nice, but it also closes at 6pm. Which during summer is too early because no one wants to jump when it's 95 degrees outside and 90 percent humid.
There is no mini golf. "Water wars" didn't happen. The room with the "nightly movies" was locked up the whole time we were there. I didn't see an air hockey table, a pool table, video game room. If you want to play volley ball or basketball you have to bring your own ball. No hiking trails.
My kids were absolutely bored. I took them to the pool around 4pm everyday because it was the coolest time of the day that it was open, other than that, they had no reason to disconnect from the wifi. Which was actually pretty decent.
Everything in the campground works.the bathhouse is alittle dated but clean and functional. The staff was really friendly. And I wouldn't be surprised if the 4 or 5 star reviews on this page were from the 40 occupants the staff said lived on the grounds.
I wouldn't go here for more...
