Every once in a while, you stumble across a venue so unique, so seamlessly magical, that it forever changes the way you think about weddings and hospitality. For us, that place was Glamping Retro in Erwin, Tennessee, a tucked away mountain retreat that somehow manages to feel like both a luxury resort and a campfire gathering with old friends.

From the moment we arrived, Sharen, Tara, and Tony made us feel like family. Not just “welcome guests” family - the kind of family who gets hugged at the door, handed a cold drink, and told not to lift a finger. Their warmth and dedication radiated through every detail, and they bent over backwards to ensure our honky-tonk camp themed wedding weekend was not only stress-free, but unforgettable.

The Setting: Rustic Charm Meets Elevated Comfort

The property itself is breathtaking. Nestled in the lush hills of East Tennessee, the camp feels both wild and curated—a blend of natural beauty and thoughtful design. The retro-chic glamping accommodations are worlds apart from the typical “roughing it” stereotype. We hosted 24+ guests on site for the weekend, and the rave reviews poured in nonstop. Every cabin and tent was spotlessly clean, the beds surprisingly plush, and the bathrooms sparkling. It was “best glamping experience ever” unanimous across the board.

At night, string lights twinkled under a blanket of stars, while the sounds of laughter and country music drifted across the camp. By day, the grounds became a playground of lawn games, communal meals, and pure relaxation. It’s rare to find a space that invites both celebration and serenity but Glamping Retro pulls it off effortlessly.

The People: Above and Beyond Service

Venues often live or die by the team behind them, and this is where Glamping Retro truly shines. Sharen’s calm, steady leadership, Tara’s eye for detail, and Tony’s behind-the-scenes magic created a seamless experience where we could just… breathe. Instead of worrying about logistics, setup, or the hundred tiny things that make a wedding tick, we got to be present with each other, with our families, and with our friends.

Guests noticed, too. Many of us are seasoned wedding-goers, and to a person, everyone said this was the best wedding they had ever attended. Not because of over-the-top décor or a showy venue, but because everything felt perfectly set, perfectly cared for, and infused with authenticity. The crew didn’t just host our wedding—they partnered with us to create an atmosphere of joy.

Glamping Retro is more than a backdrop; it’s the heart and soul of an event. Malachi and I had our wedding here in september and it was the most magical weekend ever. Sharen and Tara went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make our weekend so special and as a wedding photographer myself, i have never ever seen a wedding run so smoothly! They are so accommodating and truly GOOD PEOPLE! You can tell they put their entire heart and soul into this place and treat all couples and guests as though they are family.

Glamping retro is an incredible experience all around. From the luxurious glamping tents, cozy treehouse, and beautiful scenery, we literally couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The property has so many different options to host your ceremony. we opted for the meadow, and i’m so glad we did!!! During our ceremony, butterflies fluttered all around us and our guests could not stop talking about it.

Since our wedding day, we have heard nothing but how we had the best wedding ever and have had numerous guests tell us that our venue was perfect and that they hope to come back and rent it as an airbnb for a fun getaway sometime.

Truly 10/10. If you want it, sharen and tara will do all they can to make it happen. Cannot say enough good things about this place. It was a core memory for not only Malachi and I, but our guests attending as well. Thank you...

We celebrated our wedding at Glamping Retro, and reserved the whole site for our friends and family. We cannot say enough great things about Glamping Retro, as well as Tony and Sharen who own it. Honestly, by the end of the trip they felt like friends as well. The venue was absolutely beautiful for a wedding, and the variety of options on where to have the ceremony was a really great feature as well. We chose the creekside deck, and I would absolutely recommend this site. Each tent (or treehouse or airstream) had every amenity needed. We especially enjoyed the close proximity to the creek for each tent and cabin. All the guests loved hearing the natural sounds of the creek running just outside their windows. Glamping Retro truly thought of everything down to a steamer for a wedding gown and marshmallow roasting sticks for the campfire sure to happen as the night settles in. There was plenty of adventuring to do on the Gamping Retro site, but it is also conveniently located near hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail. Glamping Retro is absolutely a wedding venue site worth checking out, and it is also a spot for a romantic getaway, family vacations, and a group trip...
