I am sitting in my room on one of my last days at Rancho Manzana, staring at the apple orchard and cotton woods along the creek and out to the foothills of the Sangre de Christo Mountains.||||I am a Creative and Brand Consultant who has been lucky to be involved in the building of restaurants, hotels and events around the world. Immediately upon arrival, I could read that this place had an incredible story and an elevated attention to detail. These are things that aren't terribly easy to find while traveling anymore- in a world where automatic mentalities have lost the hospitality vibe of days past.||||What is offered here where I still sit is a quiet space to relax, with all of the connective ability should you work remote as I do. Rancho Manzana offers an elegant space to allow you to truly take in the beauty of this historic area against the natural landscape. ||||The rooms are dressed beautifully, linens are incredible, the main building is a gorgeous expression of historic traditional architecture and is over 300 years old! My flat was populated with a beautifully curated selection of books that gave me the opportunity to fall deeper into the history of where I lay.||||My host was lovely when we interacted. She has had this property for 30 years and understands world class accommodation like few I have met in a quiet countryside. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay Jody and team at Rancho Manzana! I will recommend your space to all of my industry friends looking for an escape with elegance and ease. Read moreThe Casitas are in quite the bucolic setting. It is quiet. My stay was with a gal pal. However, the room is littered with instructions: You are expected to empty the trash and pay a cleaning fee. You cannot set luggage on the bench. You must turn off the a/c when leaving the room but come back to something stuffy. Do not dare open the windows as a hoard of bugs will descend upon you,then crawl on you all night.
The host, Jody, feels free to snoop through your things when you step out. She advertised two beds but there was only one, so we had to improvise. Upon returning, we saw that she had inspected the sheets, rummaged through the trash can, and my luggage. It is uncomfortable sleeping with someone that is not a relative or romantic partner.
She was condescending to my buddy and unnecessarily admonished her for not being able to find the "big house" when there was no map or directions provided. Even her website is condescending but it was not obvious until after listening to her. ("Do not bring any pets We have plenty. Do not bring your children, etc.")
The shower is claustrophobic. The furniture was pretty but uncomfortable. There is no iron or TV. She updated her site after we left to reveal some of these discrepancies. After we checked out, she also sent an email to my buddy attacking her character and making nasty, inaccurate judgements about her character. This "Jody person" was a very unpleasant host.
