We have been coming to the group tent site for years. It has always been a good time, even with poor weather. We bring canopies to cover the picnic tables and a lot of firewood to burn in the group fire ring between the tables. The fireplace inside the old building hasn't worked in years and it doesn't seem like they intend to fix it due to cost? Checkout had always been at 1:00 pm, but we were surprised to find out it's 11:00 now, at 11:00, as we were slowly rolling up our belongings and had to pick up the pace. Overall, it's always a good experience with 40+ people hanging out over the weekend between tent sites and RVs. Having the old fireplace working again and knowing the checkout time has changed would have been nice, but the campground is nice, the hosts are friendly, the restrooms are as clean as can be expected for a vault, the showers are ok, but cost a quarter when the other campground showers we use are free. No real complaints overall, just minor inconveniences...
Read moreOne of my favorite campgrounds! We just finished our second stay here (stayed for the first time last year) and loved it.
It was cool and rained a few days in the evening/night but no complaints. I'd rather have cool weather than scorching hot. It's such a beautiful area to camp, bike, hike and fish in.
I don't think there's a bad spot to camp in. We had spot 4 in the Bear Loop and it was great. Last year we had spot 1 and still loved it. We got to see lots and lots of hummingbirds this year.
We did a hike at the campsite (Kreutzer/Mc Connell) and did the whole 4 miles and it was challenging. Lots of rocks and it took us 3h to complete. Thankfully, there is a picture of the trails at the beginning so I took a picture. We knew it was 4 miles but there was a lot of primitive areas on the trail.
The showers were clean and cleaned regularly. The camp staff is always cleaning which helps the park stay beautiful so thank you to...
Read moreGood campsite especially if you have kids. The playground is simple but adds so much freedom for kids to get out their energy. It's also very close to the Kelly Flats Off-road trail. The only downside is the ridiculous $8 charge for additional vehicles. We attempted camping with a 1 year old along with my 5 and 6 year olds. We needed a second vehicle to be able to take the 1 year old home early as needed and still continue to camp with the older kiddos. I am the type of person this rule punishes; someone already struggling to make things work for my family to be able to camp together. My extra vehicle caused no inconvenience to anyone or any part of the campsite and yet I'm charged $8 extra per night to allow for contingency for my 1 year old. Quite dishonorable if you ask me. The campsite itself is already a...
