Super 8 by Wyndham Estherville — Hotel in Estherville

We checked in for a 2 night stay.The first room we were given was dirty. Beds not made, towels on the floor, dirty counters. Obviously it had not been cleaned. We were told this was a mistake and were given a different room. The next room had mold in the bathtub(they have anti slip mats-if lifted up there was a large spot of mold growing underneath) we had a toddler with us and I could not give her a bath in a moldy tub the shower head was coming off the wall and one light bulb was burnt out as well. We went to the front desk to get our money back and were told because we checked in we would only get one night back. We had been at this establishment for less than 15 minutes at this point. I had to argue with the man at the front desk to get my money back for both nights. So far I’ve only gotten one night returned on my card but was told I would get the full refund for both nights. Tried to check out a day earlier and was told that I could not get a refund because I had paid with cash. Was charged a extra $140.00 for pets when nothing was said when I checked in and other guest with pets where not charged. Had a email confirmation of the price of the stay and when I was checking in the price was $200.00 more . The manager said the price that I had booked the room with the old management was not the price now so the hotel wanted me to pay the new price . Walked outside of the side entrance there where people smoking pot multiple times . The side doors are not locked , so anyone can gain entrance to the hotel though any entrance. The front desk man greeted me with a warm heart and a loving kindness that most folks can’t muster up at 1:30am. I appreciate him greatly as this interaction set the tone for a great stay. I highly recommend staying here. Beds were great, pillows were perfect, coffee was on par with a coffee shop, lighting was great, sheets were soft, rooms and establishment as a whole were very clean and smelled great, bathroom was clean and has a heat lamp so you don’t freeze when you get out if the shower.
