My girlfriend and I booked a cabin for the weekend. I am in the military and she flew in to see me. We thought this would be the perfect way to spend our short time together. After a 5.5 hour drive to get to our cabin, it quickly went down hill. Upon our arrival, we walked in our cabin to find it completely dirty. It had never been cleaned since the previous people stayed here. We called management to see what was going on and they were apologetic and came to clean it. We were very tired from our drive and just wanted to relax, but we understand that things happen. All in all, it took over an hour to get things back in order for us to have it for the weekend. We were left sitting in the heat for that whole time. Shortly after they were done cleaning and left, we realized the AC was not functioning properly. It was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. We decided to go to dinner and give it some time to hopefully cool down. When we got back, there was no improvement and there was just no way we would be able to sleep there. We called the front desk, who was unaware of the issues we already had, and she informed us that our particular cabin has been having issues with the AC unit. This is where they completely lost us. WHY on EARTH would they put us in this cabin knowing it was having issues in the first place without properly fixing or having it replaced? They went over our options with us which included a refund, fans for the cabin, or getting a different cabin but not until tomorrow. We opted for a refund because we lost all hope in this place. We had to get a hotel completely out of the area, we didn’t get to do any of the things we had planned, and we are leaving feeling so disappointed. Not to mention, I had to message and ask for the refund AGAIN because they never sent a confirmation that it was being processed, Terrible experience and very sad we spent all this time/effort to enjoy a weekend together and it was...
Read morePerfect place for kayaking, fishing & a nice, peaceful time.
The first question people keep asking us is if there is adequate air-conditioning. Yes, 100%. The highs were 90-95 & I wore a sweatshirt inside most the time because I'm cold natured.
The dome & surrounding area is very nice, impeccably clean & well-kept. There's so many cute little touches & everything you could want or need is already there right down to many flavors of coffee creamer. If you do happen to need something, Sydney is super responsive & quick to take care of you.
If you enjoy kayaking, or want to give it a try, then you've picked the right place. The water is glass smooth & there's lots to explore. The best part is the extra touch of a kayak launch attached to the dock. No more precariously balancing trying to get yourself & stuff in the water. There are 6 nice kayaks, paddles & life jackets already there but they are meant to be shared with the of the guests so if you plan on an all day paddle then bring your own so everyone else can have their turn.
One of the best parts for us was getting to bring our dog to let her enjoy the water. It's really the #1 reason we picked this place & lots of other people seemed to have the same idea. It's hard to find pet friendly places so if you bring your dog, please be responsible & pick up after them.
We loved our stay & have already been recommending it to everyone we know. We can't wait to come back...
Read moreService is very great! We had an unfortunate event that lead us to reschedule our original booking. They were very accommodating though as we were able to rebook for a few weeks later. Had some initial problems brewing coffee and found the propane tank was empty, but they were very quick to respond to our text messages. They were able to get someone out to replace the tank so our late night cook out wasn’t ruined. We know some things are out of their control but we’re overall pleased with their quick responses and ability to resolve some of our issues.
If there was one thing that we wish the place had, it would be possibly some outdoor lighting by grill and jacuzzi. They did provide a small lantern but light wasn’t bright enough. May be low batteries but we found our phone lights brighter and easier to work with when using the grill. We understand that at night it may attract bugs and ruin the views of the night sky but either brighter lanterns or small porch light that could be turned on/off would be appreciated.
Overall, we much enjoyed our time outdoors there and the ability to open up the tent for a breeze. Lake was also very quiet and relaxing for fishing at the dock. They had some kayaks there that can even accommodate fishing poles. Our last morning there, it was storming but found that our tent held up well in the wind. Thank you for a much needed mini weekend vacation. Would...
