We went to Coker Creek Gold Camp hoping we would be able to have access to the creek and be able to pan for gold. The price for panning sounded really reasonable so we drove there hopeful we would finally be able to actually pan. We were a bit worried at first because no one was there although the sign said to honk because they were likely at the creek. We honked but no one came. We finally decided we needed to honk a lot longer and louder. Two of our group then decided to try to find the creek when Bryan appeared. He helped us sign up and gave us an even better rate saying that he didn't think we'd end up panning for very long. Then, he took us to the creek and supplied us with all sorts of gear. We had pans ourselves and some other things, but he supplied a shovel and buckets and more. Then, he showed us how to pan. He spent a lot of time with us teaching us everything from preparing the pans to finding good places to dig and then preparing the dirt for panning. We all found gold flakes with his help and were so very thrilled. If you want a great experience at a beautiful place with an awesome guide, Coker Creek Gold Camp is where...
Read moreWe were visiting Chattanooga, Tennessee from Las Vegas, NV and had to find a place to go gold panning. The Coker Creek post office provided us information for this gold camp, and we were not disappointed. Coker Creek Gold Camp is a great spot for both beginner and seasoned gold panners. The camp is nestled in a peaceful, scenic area of the Cherokee National Forest. Bryon, the host, is incredibly helpful—he set us up with everything we needed and stayed with us until we found our first fleck of gold! He genuinely wants you to enjoy your experience. The gold panning is fun and relaxing, with a real chance of finding flakes in the creek. Campground facilities are very clean and include full-hookup RV sites and hot showers. We did not have any phone signal, but there is Wi-Fi available if needed. The area is quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature, perfect for hiking or just unwinding. We left with a few bits of gold and a lot of great memories—highly...
