Absolutely the most rude lady I've ever encountered. Let me tell you the story because we were run off the property. I was traveling to Tellico Plains on Sept. 20 and had researched for weeks on places to stay. Smitty's had great reviews so we planned on staying there. I also checked availability daily for a week to make sure they had a room. Well, we pulled up to the front office on the morning of Sept. 20 and no one was in the office. The sign said to text a number if they were not there, so we did. While I was waiting I had to use the restroom. When I got back to the front, the lady came out and asked, "What we are doing here?" We said we were wanting to rent a cabin for the night. She said, "Where are your motorcycles?" We clearly didn't have any as we were in a small SUV. Then she asked me, "What were you doing?". I told her that I had to use the restroom. She said, "Restrooms are only for the patrons!" So I kindly replied that I understand that and we were planning on renting a cabin for that evening. She said, "No you are not! This is ONLY for motorcyclists!" I apologized to her and told her we did not realize that but wanted to stay anyway. She then said, "No you are not. You can get back in that car, back it up, and get on out of here!" So...........at that time there were 4 cabins that had people in them and 1 had a car. Hmmm. No where on any signs on the website or on the property did it say you cannot stay there if you don't have a motorcycle. There are also previous reviews on their website that had folks with cars staying there (2 with proof from pictures of their cars net to the cabins). Then to be talked to so rudely and literally be told to leave the property and refusal of service was just unprofessional. I was in absolute shock on how we were treated and talked to. Never in my life have I experienced that kind of treatment and can't imagine how a service industry business would allow that from their employees or owners. I was excited to stay at this location because of all of the positive reviews. I don't think I've ever left a bad review in my life, but this experience had...
Read moreReading the reviews of this place is misleading! Yes, the place is perfectly located close to the Parkways, Skyways and Deals Gap. It's close to town where you will find a couple restaurants and a CVS. There is also a NAPA in case you need parts! The previous owners must have kept the campground in amazing condition to have great reviews. But, the dates on the reviews must be looked at closely! About the campground though, the "cabin" is nothing more than a wooden shed with a bed and a/c with a lean-to attached for covered bike parking. There is no water or toilets. If the restroom in needed in the middle of the night, you will have to walk a gravel, dimly lit, downhill pathway. The shower house needs some work. Its outdated and the "provided" soap and shampoo are merely items that were left by previous visitors. The community coffee station, grill, firewood,...just about everything had a donation box attached to it! For the amount that 1 person payed for 2 days, I was hoping for a hot cup of coffee in the morning without having to dig for change! I checked in Friday night, to which I was given the tour of the place. Which I probably would have chosen a different place had I been given the tour before paying! Friday night was fine, quiet and relaxing. Saturday night was interrupted by loud, disrespectful late arrivals. Knowing that my early checkout (1:30AM) would provide a little satisfaction, I let it go. I will not...
Read moreOne word: Amazing! I seriously can't say enough nice things about this place. I stayed two nights with two friends in the three person cabin. It had a double bed and a set of bunk beds. The room was spotless including some of the cleanest sheets I've ever had anywhere I've ever stayed. It also had boot and glove dryers (three of them...for the three person room. Genius!), a microwave and a fridge and it was air conditioned. The cover on the side fit our two sport bikes and a dual sport perfectly. The bathrooms were also super clean! I mean, spotless. No weird smells, fully stocked ,private showers with changing areas and all. Although we didn't use it they had a propane grill available (with a nearly full tank) in the covered picnic area. They even had a couple of work-tables area with a vice and a BIKE STAND! The first night we were there the owners came around to say hi (we checked in after hours) and make sure everything was ok. I seriously can't come up with anything to complain about. I would highly recommend this place to anybody but if you're out there riding The Tail of the Dragon or Charohala this is the...
