Let me start by saying we love the Homer cabin. We've stayed there more than once. So why three stars? For starters it is the lowest of low seasons right now but their rates continue to increase. Some of the amenities that used to be included no longer are like logs for the fire. Now if you want to light the fireplace it's an extra $25. I will say the cabin is super cozy, very quiet and even though you can see a couple of other cabins it still feels private. It has an amazing wrap around porch with a small hot tub in the back. The bed is decent, and even has an electric blanket, and they allow pets for a fee, but it's $50 and non refundable. Having said all of that we would still choose to stay there as it was the first place we stayed on our first vacation together years ago, but for one main drawback. Getting on and off property there is downright dangerous. The entrance is so steep we drove past it three times or first visit because it's a literal drop off. You better have good tires and excellent brakes. Plus there is no turn lane or even shoulder to slow down on , just the two lane highway that doesn't slow down so you can turn. Going out is even worse. Your car is at a 45° angle and there is no flat surface at the top to stop and check traffic. You just have to hit the gas and pray because once you're car is on flat ground you're on the highway like it or not. I'm not even sure there is anything they could do to improve it because of where the cabins are. For that reason we aren't likely to stay there again which is a shame because we really do love the cabin. If you have a strong vehicle and a strong stomach we still suggest you give them a try.
Edited: After reading the response I decided to increase my rating from three to four stars as the initial rating was probably a little harsh. There really isn't anything they can do about the crazy entrance and we really do enjoy the cabin. Plus they've always been...
Read moreWe enjoyed the cabin, had everything we needed and people were friendly . I would have given it 5 stars but took one away , but it was part of my fault. My wife couldn't get the hot tub turned on, and not sure if we just didn't know how, or if it just didn't work. But as I said, I didn't say anything about it so take part of the blame because I think they would have fixed it or showed us how to get it on. We saw a mouse or rat in the living room, killed a large snake behind the cabin, but that would be expected because of being in the woods. All in all it was very nice. One other thing I noticed is the internet was very slow, but I didn't go there for getting on the internet except tried to watch netflix upstairs because we had no TV, and didn't expect it to be good, but it was too slow. The reason I was there was for the car show, in which I had a car to enter, and although I enjoyed the car show because I like talking and meeting people, it was not organized and and I heard a lot of people complaining. Quite a few didn't go on the cruise afterward because of this and I hear a lot will not be going back next year. I won't be either, and after talking to a lot of people from out of state, I think there will be a lot less. I even heard some say the judging wasn't what it should have been either and the judges may not have been qualified. As for me, I have been to about dozen shows in Oklahoma and Texas this year and have always took a trophy home, all first in my class and one second and this is the very first time I went home with nothing. Even after paying $30 ( a little high) I didn't even get a bag of goodies they usually give out. I seen them give them out to a lot of others, but think they forgot to give me one. It was just overall unorganized I really hate this because I had planned on another car show and canceled to go to this one. So it will...
Read moreI stayed a couple of nights in the Mountain Mist cabin with my wife and two sons and it was incredible!
The view from the porch is great. There are two rockers and a porch swing, so seating is not a problem. The only downside is the noise from the occasional vehicle passing by. The Weber grill on the deck is large enough to cook for a family and is stocked with everything we needed, save charcoal, which we brought with us, althought the office did have a few small bags.
The cabin sleeps 4 easily. Two upstairs in the loft and two downstairs. There is a couch that seats 3 comfortably and a recliner. While the couch converts to a bed, sleeping six is possible, it would become a little two crowded if the extra two were not small children, as the cabin is meant to cater to four.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed, as far as utensils, to prepare meals. The small stove was the right size and the dishes and cutlery enough for six. The refrigerator is large enough to store food and drink and the freezer large enough for a few trays of ice and whatever you want frozen.
The single bathroom is spacious and stocked with the best towels I have ever had the pleasure of using. Luxurious! And the upstairs Jacuzzi is amazing.
The staff in the office are beyond friendly, calling us the day before to confirm our reservation and asked if we needed any special accommodations. She gave us the rundown on what we would need at the cabin, etc.
We will absolutely be coming back here...
