Charlevoix County Whiting Park — Hotel in Eveline Township

The park is ok if you cannot get a place in Young State Park. It was a last resort for us as I was unable to get reservations for there. It is a county park so I won't be too harsh on them if I can help it. However, the facilities are old and in dire need of upgrades throughout. The sites are small and probably should restrict the size of campers renting sites. Also, the sites are pretty uneven. The shower/bathroom building is in horrible shape. The two shower stalls in the men's side don't have doors, just shower liners. Both of the showers are not working properly. 1 of them hardly has any pressure at all. The other has decent pressure but if you turn the handle to the hot position, it is all cold. If you turn it the opposite way, past the off position, it turns hot; like really hot. I don't know how the women's side is but I would assume the same. The beach is ok but a lot of rock just past the shoreline. They need to get some volunteers to go through and gather all of the big rocks and move them back to shore somewhere. The drive needs to be paved also. I understand that county parks usually cannot afford the cost of ongoing mantainance or rebuilding their facilities. Wish the state would provide them with a grant to...

This site is amazing, right on the beach, an area to swim and an area to launch my paddle board. The facilities were clean and had free showers. The shaded area kept my camper cool, which was a bonus as I chose a primitive site without electric.

I stayed here Thursday-Sunday. Thursday night was phenomenal and peaceful. Friday night the Boys & Girls club stayed at the campsite. A fight broke out at 12 AM. At 12:30 AM I politely asked them to quiet down. The noise finally ceased at 3:30 AM when they fell asleep. Saturday night the campsite next to me was up talking, drinking and laughing until 2 AM. There is no camp host on-site to enforce the 10 PM quiet hours.

Love this site, the price, and location. Would absolutely not stay here again during a weekend and would not recommend this site because of my experience. If you have a camper and electric hook-ups with the A/C running, the noise probably...

On mother's day, my fiance and i rode the motorcycle up to the park from Johannesburg to check it out for future camping or enjoying the lake. Beautiful park, beach area. We were at the beach and the bathrooms were locked so we walked over to the campground side to use those. As i am using the bathroom a guy driving a red dodge with a grey box came in and rudely told us that we couldn't use the bathroom. I proceeded to say well we had to pee and asked if he wanted us to use the woods instead. He said then i will call the cops for indecent exposure. I asked where the signs were and he said i had to go online. So i did. Says nothing on there. He swore at us, followed me around. Then drove through the campground driving like a bad out of hell.
