I couldn't even begin to speak highly enough of this place. Seriously!!! But I also have a lot of great things to say about this place. I have never felt so at home and happy anywhere. The cabin, surrounded by Sequoia's though a bit pricey was with every penny. They are fully furnished, depending on which cabin you choose of course, but ours included a full kitchen, dining room, two separate bedrooms and a spare bed in the dining/kitchen area. Gas lanterns for light so it can get a little warm at night. Additionally a great view from the porch with a picnic table and tons of birds to keep you entertained while you enjoy your morning coffee. Great über modern bath house facility, very, very nice. The altitude is a bit of an adjustment but give it a day or so and it will be fine. At the store there is last minute for items as well as a small selection of outdoor goods but I would highly recommend bringing in food. The site also provides breakfast, lunch and dinner with WiFi available. Outdoor and indoor seating available and I little playground the kids as well. The menu is small but it is delicious. There is a good sized city roughly forty minutes southwest of here with lower prices, I only say this because the city at the base of the mountain is a bit pricey as well but will suffice if you need. The road up can cause a bit of anxiety for those less adventurous and not keen on heights. Consequently, the road gets very narrow with tight, blind turns so pick a driver that is comfortable with this but it can be a long drive up with no restrooms. Take care to make sure your vehicle doesn't overheat in the Summertime driving up. On to the hiking and sights. The trailhead is for miles down the road along with a ranger station with incredible staff. I personally enjoyed the "Yoga with a ranger" Sunday morning and the stories that were shared at the "Campfire with the Ranger". Nothing but adventure, relaxation, and delight await you here and you avoid a big majority of the traffic going to the official park entrance. The trails are to notch if you're looking for a casual stroll or a wildly challenging mountain hike. I personally went for the hike to Saw Tooth which I did in under eight hours out and back but I have a fast pace and took a lunch. I have never felt so in awe with the beauty of the natural landscape and sights. I have returned home with a deep love and respect for this place and will certainly return many more times in the future. I have never been happier with my decision to go but take precaution when on the trails, the dangers are not too be taken lightly, bears and other natural hazards are very serious but with worth it. I recommend purchasing bear mace or a bear bell if you can before arriving to the park as this will help protect you if you happen to cross a bear. I really am interested in reading feedback so please let me know how your...

Perfect place to explore the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park||We stayed in the "Franklin Pass" cabin and enjoyed it thoroughly. The restaurant meals were excellent albeit three nights was probably the max before you exhaust the menu. Being able to access the Mineral King area for amazing hikes (White Chief Canyon!) was a big plus. The location itself is gorgeous and the staff wonderful. We were a total of five couples staying in a variety of cabins. Since I got to witness a variety of cabins, I'll just describe each one we saw:|"Franklin Pass": much more modern than I expected. Be aware the bathroom is within the cabin itself except for a small closet commode. The bathtub was great to soak in after a difficult hike. Currently the Wifi from the main lodge area stretches up to the outside firepit area of this cabin, but not the cabin itself. It is not as private as "Hockett Meadow" which is next door and has more privacy. Both of these cabins are an easy walk to the main lodge/restaurant. There is a third behind "Franklin Pass" but I don't recall the name of that one.|"Paradise Ridge": Fabulous house high up the road with a full kitchen. This was our group's hangout spot before and after dinner. The fire pit with the natural granite back was wonderful to experience. A bit farther walk from the restaurant/lodge area and certainly no wifi at all. Very private. I believe it has two bedrooms and a loft with one modern large bathroom, but note none of the beds are king-size. "Sawtooth" nearby might be an even better large option.|"Evelyn Lake": A studio above the main lodge/restaurant area. If you have a couple who prefers a bit more comfort and connectivity this might be a good solution. Since it's part of the lodge, wifi is not an issue. The two closets are a nice touch since other cabins do not have as much closet space. Don't let the photos of the angled roof put you off, it actually feels very spacious compared to one of the other studios above the lodge (see below). If I return solo or with just my spouse, I might choose this one.|"Eagle Lake": Another modern studio above the main lodge/restaurant area but not as spacious as "Evelyn Lake". Again, a good option for someone who may not be ready to be completely off the grid in one of the other cabins|"Cozy Pines": This is one of the cabins that does not have a bathroom, but it has a reasonable kitchen studio. Immediately across the shared bathrooms which were spotless and excellent. If someone is down to only this left for the time you are booking, rest assured you will likely have the bathrooms nearly all to yourself and it isn't as bad as you might think.|I hope this was helpful - I wish the resort would have a map of their cabins on the website because that would be even more helpful...

Drove by Silver City a few times within the last few years when going up to Mineral King for family hiking/backpacking adventures. Every time I looked at it longingly from my car window as I was exhausted and longed for some semblance of comfort.

This year, eager to share the splendors of Mineral King with my sister (who is not a hiker), we opted to book a cabin and enjoy Mineral King a different way. Having previously stayed in cabins, I wasn't expecting much. Considering the elevation and lack of immediate access to amenities, I was preparing myself for much less. However, I was impressed by the friendliness, cleanliness, and readily available amenities.

My party booked Sunny Point Cabin. It was perfect for our party of 4. It was very charming and clean. Cabin is situated perfectly behind the Lobby/Restaurant and in front of the bathrooms. Due to the proximity to the lobby, the cabin does have WiFi although weak at times. Moreover, Sunny Point has a toilet room but no shower however, the communal bathrooms right behind are impeccably clean. Shower stalls have perfect privacy with a little bench to stow your belongings. Additionally, dispensers in showers provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in case you forgot yours.

The drive up to Silver City is not difficult if you're used to mountain roads but, it's not easy.. expect to drive no more than 10-15 miles per hour. It's a series of twists and turns that at certain points are unpaved and only fit one car. So, drive carefully and maybe avoid driving at night.

We packed a lot of food expecting we'd be cooking... this did not happen as planned as the restaurant food is in fact really good. Seriously good. Definitely come here.. High end fresh faire in an unparalleled setting nestled among the forest. Oh, and if you're vegan, they have you covered. Do try the vegan black bean burger. In case you don't eat on the premises, cabin kitchens are stocked with all sorts of cooking amenities you may need: pots, pans, cups, plates, a French press, etc. You're covered. We opted to bring paper plates and disposable cutlery as we are cognizant that California is in the midst of a drought and wanted to do our part to conserve water..

Once again, the cabins are great and the best hiking opportunities in the valley are just miles away. I've done Eagle Lake, Mosquito Lake, and this time around a portion of Hockett Meadows. This place is perfect for even those people that aren't fond of the outdoors... however, they'll be leaving with a newfound appreciation.. so much so that we already booked our cabin for next year.

**During my stay, there was HEAVY smoke due to the ongoing wildfires. Sleeping at night was almost unbearable. This has nothing at all to do with the resort but, keep...

Like many things in life, this review is about expectations. We booked the Monarch Lake room and expected (reading the description on the resort's website) a quiet, cozy room with a nice porch. Instead, we ended up in a tiny, hot wooden unit with a balcony that faces the kitchen and nothing to shade us from the heat whatsoever. No desk, just a shelf with an electric kettle (with no outlet nearby, which did not make sense). There's no AC (don't come here between July-August), just a ceiling fan that did not help to alleviate the heat. There's one window, but it's facing the kitchen vent exhaust chimney - so it's either way too warm or the room smells like a BBQ grill at night / eggs in the morning. On Saturday night - right after the talent show, the staff decided to let us know they are having fun at 11 pm, which was not really fun for us as you can imagine. Along with us came our cute 3 mo. Again - expectations: the website clearly says we can request a crib. What we got was really an insult. A dirty, torn Graco travel crib (picture attached) that I would not have used to store my shoes in. Luckily, we brought our co-sleeper from home. The only thing that really saves this place from getting one star is the excellent food (salmon was so good) and the restaurant staff who were all extremely kind - and also the atmosphere. Overall, this is not a bad place, as long as you set your expectations accordingly.
