We have mixed emotions about this BnB. We sent our daughter and new son-in-law here for a short honeymoon stay. The house and property are absolutely beautiful and the room was clean, however we were disappointed by several aspects of the stay. They were provided no special considerations by the hosts (knowing they were just married), even though they were the only guests staying there. There were homemade oatmeal cookies left out in the kitchen as a sweet treat, but when the host went to offer them a drink, she opened an empty fridge, and said, “My bad, this is usually stocked”, and made no effort to correct this. They were given no beverages from the time they checked in until breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was very minimal (i.e. 4 biscuits w/ sausage for 3 people, as the host ate with them, with gravy, but no condiments such as butter or jelly) — not what I expected from a BnB — and certainly not the “Full Country Breakfast” stated on their site. Additionally, some of the complimentary items listed in the description were missing from their visit, such as the complimentary wine tasting (apparently the winery is closed on Sundays, yet this was not relayed over the phone) or the wine slushies that were said to be available.
While the hosts were very hospitable, the overall experience didn’t match my previous BnB encounters, or leave a great first BnB impression on the new couple. I hope future guests will receive the full offerings or the listing will be updated to reflect what's...
Read moreOur stay was lovely. June and Jeff are marvelous hosts and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was stellar. We came in to get a few days away after a busy summer. They had a Wine & Words event that gave us a chance to relax, read, share and have an amazing meal provided by chef Mallory. The home made dressing on my salad was heavenly and she was willing to share what was in it! The atmosphere at Springhill is welcoming and relaxing. The 1850s home is gorgeous and we loved hearing from Jeff about its history and some of the major events that happened there. My husband is an amateur photographer and was able to take so many great photos because the sunsets over the vineyards are magnificent. Flowers galore on the property had him snapping away throughout our stay. My favorite part though has to be breakfast. June made a different breakfast each day, all with fruit, something sweet, a filling breakfast casserole or quiche. And the tea selection is second to none. Getting to know the other guests at breakfast is the best. We met some really lovely people and shared interesting stories about our kids, hometowns and lives in general. Definitely my favorite part! The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer because we missed out on Music in the Vineyard, which was the day after we had to leave. We will definitely return and tell everyone they should come...
Read moreMy husband and I were there for one night (we had booked two nights) and due to bad weather coming through, we decided to get on the road and head out before the bad weather hit. We were so disappointed to leave as we enjoyed our first day and breakfast the following morning. Mallory, June & Jeff are delightful people and know how to make their guests feel welcome. The bedrooms are thoughtfully decorated and the first floor as well. The winery is beautiful and we had to skip our wine tasting to get on the road. The area is beautiful. Bloomfield is very cute and we enjoyed dinner the first night at Froggies. We had planned to go to Ernie's the second night but, unfortunately, were not able to do that. Bardstown nearby is another place we wanted to explore but had to cut that short as well. We would definitely love to get back to that area some day and highly recommend staying at Springhill Plantation...
