First impression, looks nice but oh those sites up near the office are packed together like sardines. I sure wouldn't want to be in any of those. The campground appears to be mostly for seasonal people. When I walked in to the office, it was like walking in to Cheers. A table full of people in the office all stopped talking and stared at me. Who were they? I don't know. A staff member behind the desk said he would guide me to my site. There were seasonal residents darting all around on golf carts, so when a different staff person appeared in the road in a golf cart, I had no idea if I was supposed to follow him or not.
Roadways through are TIGHT if you have a big rig. The pull through site is plenty long enough, and on this side, they are spaced well enough apart, unlike the other side, where they appear to be nearly touching each other. I don't know what those people did to deserve those sites...The price was fine for a full hook up pull through site.
Wifi doesn't work on any of our 6 devices. There is no cable connection.
No electric scooters, hoverboards, drones, and fireworks, but plenty of electric golf carts darting around. I'm not sure why the rules against scooters and hoverboards, except this place gives off a "kids aren't really welcome" vibe. "Those darn kids and their rock and roll and their hoverboards, rrrraaaahhhh!" The tetherball is flat, no kids are playing on the playground, the beach is a far walk away.
It feels like there is a club here, and the folks passing through are not members. As if putting your RV in one place for the season somehow makes you cooler than driving it places. Supposedly there is a camp store somewhere, but I'm not going back in to Cheers to look for it. The place gives off a pretentious vibe, one that it...
Read moreThe Flying Goose campground is one of the best places I've ever stayed. At the risk of saying too many good things and making it more difficult to get a reservation there, this is one RV park/campground you have to stay at. The owners clearly take great pride in their business. They personally directed me to my campsite, it being my first time there and they even lent me a 25ft-30 amp extension cord because my cord wouldn't reach the pedestal. The sites are all well maintained, they have plenty of space for even the largest of campers. The grounds are immaculate and have plenty of space to roam around in. I've posted some videos to give you an idea of how beautiful a place this is.
They have plenty of activities for the kids, playgrounds, pickleball, a beautiful sandy beach, a well-maintained rec room, hayrides, just fun for all ages. I was there for a long weekend, it just happened to be their annual Goosefest celebration. Although I am not really a fan of country music, everyone had a great time. Live bands, food trucks, dancing, just a fun time had by all. The seasonal campers were very friendly and down to earth, always saying "hello" as they walked past.
This is a very dog friendly campground. My dog shadow had a great time watching all the other dogs walk past.
The restrooms and showers were all very clean and well stocked. There was never a wait for a shower or a stall.
At the office you could buy ice creams and sodas as well as other snacks. That you could even buy a frozen pizza, cook it in their pizza oven and eat it in their little dining area.
My only disappointment was that I didn't buy one of their super cool Flying Goose hoodies. But you can believe when I go there again I...
Read moreThis was a nice little campground. We stayed 2 nights in June for a baseball tournament in town. My kids enjoyed fishing and swimming in the lake. The area we were in was away from the main campground and was mostly seasonal sites. Unfortunately, both nights we stayed, people in the seasonal sights chose to play music super loud and party well into the early morning, and we were unable to sleep well. I don't by any means expect people to go inside to bed when quiet hours start at 10 pm, but this was excessive. Music so loud we could hear every song and word, and these people were not in the sites next to us. Kids/people running though our site screaming and yelling after midnight, or driving their golf carts around with music blaring. It wasn't fun that had started earlier and was continuing into the night. The loud music and partying didn't even start up until about 10:30, which is already after their "quiet" hours. After night one, my husband brought it to the attention of the owner, who proceeded to say something along the lines of, "Yea, they all know each other pretty well". As soon as he could change the subject, he did and walked away from my husband. Night 2 was more of the same, even though we had spoken to the owner directly about it. I think we got just a few hours of sleep each night we were there, and we have 2 young kids. This is a bummer because we enjoyed everything else about the campground. I don't live in the area and have no reason to return there, but even given a choice, I would...
