Trick or treat haunted trail in Camp Pendleton and we had a blast. #camppendleton #ghostface #halloween2025 #fyp #fy

Nice lots for the RVs, pretty level too. Good hookups, although the separate spaces don't have a dump spot. You need to use the main dump for that. The lake is gorgeous, and there is a small boat rental option for campers. There are a fair number of tent sites, some of them really close to the lake. There is a good amount of shade as well, with some play areas for kids... Being on a military base, one feels quite safe. No 'family bathrooms " in the bath house, but the m/w baths are fine. They could do with small benches at the shower area. The whole facility looked well kept and very clean. Dumpsters were at several places and emptied regularly. At 35.00/night, it's hard to beat. I did not ask about a monthly rate. The base is positively HUGE, with two gas station, a commissary and the px. At one end of the base, you exit right next to Rt5 añd the coastal highway. Great for sightseeing, or going to one of the many beaches on the coast. Quite the place, and we will stop here again in the future!!

Camping on base was a great experience! There was a lot to do nearby: a trail around the lake, a playground for the kids, baseball diamond and volleyball courts, boat and fishing pole rentals, and it is close to Mainside on Camp Pendleton where there is a market and some fast food places. If you go during the week days, bring some earplugs because this campground is also near the air field and there are helos and ospreys flying around every few minutes. I only gave 4 stars because I wish the tent camping sites were a little more bigger. I could hear the site next to me snoring lol. All in all, great environment and pretty nice amenities with a bathroom and shower stall nearby (which you dont need quarters for!)

Customer service is very good especially Niko, always helpful and pleasant to interact with.

There are many dry campsites available for tent and RV. There are few sites that have water/electric, and only a handful full with full hook-up. This I think trims down the amount of people willing to stay here because your required to haul your waste to the dump site.

There are MANY resident RV'ers there which explains why many of the hook-up sites are always unavailable to rent even though the residents are rotated around.

It is was enjoyable for the most part during my stay. Keep in mind this is a military installation and there are helicopters and other aircraft flying over the campsite often throughout the day and early evening; yes it will be loud. I recall reading a review complaining about that which I think is absurd considering the campsite is on a military base. There will also be sounds from explosions and gunfire; so this may not be the place for some.

Aside from that the only issue I encountered was one site running a loud open frame generator all day and night on one occasion.

Bathrooms are clean, incorporate shower facilities, and have a seperate room for laundry. It cost $1.25 for washing machines, and .25 for fifteen minutes in the dryer.

There are several portable toilets throughout the site that are maintained at least once a day (basing this off of having a site next to one and seeing the company tend to it daily).

The location is ideal, it is not crowded like Del Mar beach, only a few minutes drive from the beach, and main exchange. Plenty of places to walk the dog (unlike the San Onofre RV grounds) and go on hikes.

The dry sites seem to be widely available but the vast majority of them do not have tree cover.

Sites 19 through 22 have a slope but are in a very nice location. Site 22 in my experience is a large site with shade,water/electric and is right beside a trail with a narrow view...

They cancelled our reservation while we were staying in the park. Making us leave 5 days before our reservations were up! They did prorate those days but still ruined our stay. The manager couldn't even give us a strait forward reason. Just told us at 1pm that we had to be out by midnight...Also make sure the additional vehicles outside of your camper/rv are registered to the same person who reserved the spot. If they are not the management will threaten to tow them. Very unsatisfied with the campground management. You can work around the leveling issues as you will need to bring plenty of leveling boards. As well as the bug issues so make sure you bring a fogger or have a nice smokey fire. But there is no way around the poor management. The hired grounds keepers do a great job prepairing the sites and keeping the grounds clean. The ladies that work behind the front desk also do a great job at making things go smoothly from the time you pay to the time you check out. This campground would be so much better with different management, perhaps a person who is fair to all campers and have general respect for all...
