I am a tent camper and this was my first stay here for 5 days. From camp we could hike to the old growth forest and the fire tower outlook point. There are canoe rentals and a well-stocked gas station nearby that offers you anything you may have forgotten to pack. The campground can get really full. I was on a loop that offered little privacy. Many of the tent sights are in a field where you will be looking through campsites 4 deep. There are a ton of RV/trailers here in their own loops. So there is something for everyone. Pets and kids included. Restrooms really need maintenance but they are functional. They offer laundry and wash stations as well as hot showers and flush toilets. Overall this is a great campground where you can be close to an amazing forest. There are some restaurants and really cheezy attractions nearby for your kids and family to enjoy. Be sure to purchase firewood from a nearby source! And enjoy!

This was a great campground. The spots were relatively close to one another but not packed in like sardines. I really liked that we were surrounded by trees (which is my favorite way to camp). The bathrooms left a lot to be desired, but it could've been worse. We had a nice hookup for electric but no water. There were two dumping stations which was nice, so we didn't have to wait when we left. It was very quiet at night which was surprising even though all sites were occupied and a lot of them were families with children and dogs. There are a lot of trails, cool things to explore, and interesting history close by to learn about in regards to how Cook Forest came to be. This would be an awesome place to take the family to get out of the house and the 300+ yr old trees are definitely a sight to see!

A lovely campsite with so much to do in the state park and nearby. The simple dog walking trail that can be accessed from near site 68 is one of the loveliest hikes we did. It's easy to walk to the fire tower and the overlook right from the campground. The showers are hot and the bathrooms are clean, even over a packed holiday weekend. The campground hosts are lovely and the park staff and rangers are helpful and accessible. There are restaurants and stores very close by, and places to rent canoes, mini golf, ride horses, and shop for antiques so close. I really recommend Dear Hart (a store with incredible antiques at lovely prices, as well as a very kind proprietor). To eat, don't miss PA Mushroom Company. Can't recommend it enough.

Went to Ridge campground for the first time this past weekend & we’re harrassed by multiple park rangers. We did the honor system at Clear Creek Campground, got kicked out since someone else booked (which was whatever honestly) how was that anyone’s fault the park double booked, but then the ranger wanted to know where else we were staying, called down and warned the other park (Ridge) made up stuff about our group, saying we were drinking, running stop signs, throwing trash (none of that happened btw) and then once we got there we got into our sites they got super picky about us having more than 5 at a site so we did the honor system again, complied with all the rules and after we got back from the river the rangers were there again made us move to another spot, all again which was open at the time we booked at the main entrance.

They were so nasty to us, talked down to us like we were kids and then proceeded to drive down past our site every 30 minutes to check on us. This state park campground is so ridiculous. You can’t laugh after 10 PM and your group has to go to their original campsites after 10 so if you have more than 5 people be prepared to have to leave. So many rules, they can’t let people just have a nice time. We had friends just leave that night to go back to Cleveland.

Never again, just warning people who may want to tent camp at a state park, look for a little off grid camp site...

Although the campground itself isn't bad, I have a few complaints. The main complaint was the noise. There was a large group that carried on all night and even let off fireworks way past the time quiet hour started. There were no owners or rangers to let them know it was a problem and they disturbed other campers besides myself. We took our dogs along and they too were very disturbed by the loud noise throughout the night. Also, I figured there would be a place to check in and get to know the campground a bit when we first got there. There was no one around to help us find our way to our site, and my wife and I drove around for 20 minutes before we finally found where we reserved. Finally, my final point was mentioned in the above complaint about not knowing where to go. There needs to be more signs with directions to the campsites. Other than that, I thought the campground was clean and our site was secluded with a lot of nice shade. I will probably be back just because it is so close, but someone needs to monitor the...

Save yourself a headache and go an additional 15 mins to Clear Creek State park. The campground hosts were not the friendliest, our campsite had garbage and other people's dog poop left behind (we brought our own dogs), the park rangers were enforcing some rules to some people, but didn't enforce the same rules to others. We were corrected about walking our dogs through a non dog area (although we thought the sign meant no pets allowed in the campsite. But no it includes walking the dogs through that area as well). Not a big deal, except later that day into the next there were 2 other campers in that area who brought their dogs with them to camp for several days. Park rangers and DNCR drove very fast through camp areas, which the speed limit was 5 mph. All the bathrooms were dirty and had no soap, but hand sanitizer. The only saving grace, and the reason I rated it a 3 instead of a 1 or 2, is the walking trails. There was several that were attached to the camp and well marked and...
