This was the experience of a lifetime. It had been on my bucket list for years and I was not dissapointed. Such a unique place. I couldn't have been happier to spend my 60th birthday there. Our host, Carissa, met us at a church in Farmington, and we followed her to the cave. We parked on top in a garage and walked down a steep and uneven walkway to the cave. For us, it just added to the adventure. Once there, she was extremely helpful, giving us the tour and answering questions. I was surprised at a birthday sign hung in the entryway, flowers, and cake, for my birthday. The kitchen and cabinets were stocked with all kinds of things, but we did buy a few things like eggs and lunch meat. I absolutely loved the bathroom and shower. There is one bedroom, with a balcony. It is closed of with curtains. My daughter stayed with us in this room. There is an air mattress. The two boys slept on futon in the main living area. Food was supplied to feed the squirrels and sugar water for the hummingbirds. There were so many. Enjoyed a glass of wine, they supplied, up on the "island" as the sunset one night. There is a fire pit you can use. I just can't stress enough what an amazing experience this was. I couldn't have had a better birthday. We did hike around the property by the cave one day and visited Mesa Verde, 1 hr away, the next. It is best to pack in backpacks as it would be quite a challenge getting up and down with regular luggage. This is one place you just have to experience!

We slept in a cave!!! What an incredible experience. Make sure to listen to the meeting instructions because Google maps does not know the way there. You’ll meet the host and she’ll drive you to the garage where you park your car. The road is rough but our SUV did great. Then you grab your things and walk down to the cave which is about a 2-5 minute walk but you don’t want to carry a suitcase as it would be impossible to drag it and you’d have to lift it over the rocks. Bring a backpack like they suggest. The view is amazing! They have an upper deck area and 2 porches. There was a random snow storm when we arrived but 10 minutes later it was sunny and we got to watch the sunset from the deck area. The cave is 1700sf so quite large. Stocked with almost anything you can think of. They have put a lot of thought into making it feel like a home. It is cool inside the cave so I was glad to have my thermals so I recommend bring warm and cozy clothes. There’s rocks everywhere that people decorate and hide around the cave and supplies to make your own. If you find the Vancouver, Canada rock, that’s me! It includes a continental breakfast which had more variety than most places I’ve seen plus all your basic cooking needs and things. We got to see chipmunks feeding right outside the door which was pretty cool. The whole experience was super unique and fascinating. We only stayed one night but I would have been happy to stay more. I highly recommend this cave!

One of the best experiences for our little family. The cave was so wonderful..our two year old loved it! The critters outside were fun to watch. We were so happy to be able to cook for ourselves as we stayed a week in santa Fe and were not accustomed to the food in the region. There were wonderful day trips to shiprock, children's museum, Farmington convention center with a t-rex display. Aztec ruins etc. The cave was a great location to explore around daily. This is an vacation incomparable to any other...it was a reconnection for us to each other and nature. Coming from the East coast my appreciation for the landscape increased by being there. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a little adventure in life. In July it was hot outside...but I actually got cold inside the cave, great temperature!

When we first booked the cave a month ago, the owners sent us our booking confirmation along with an offer to use a local chef to cater a dinner at the cave. Initially I looked over the menu and thought to myself, "Ehhhh, it's a bit pricey, I think I'll pass." Fast forward to the day before the were expected to arrive and myself and the family were kind of beat from a week long road-trip spanning over 4 states, and now that catered meal was looking pretty good. I reached out to the chef and he agreed to accommodate us at the last minute, so I dug thru my emails and looked over his menu selection again. Honestly, his menu had something for almost anyone's appetite. I personally recommend the Medallioned Filet Minion, the Salmon in some kind of Champaign sauce, or the Chicken and capers, yes I got to sample all of my family's dinner selections and they were wonderful! As far as side items, the group had to decide on a choice of I think 1 starch and 2 veggies, but again, he had a pretty good selection for us so it was easy.

Getting to the cave by ourselves would have been almost impossible, so the owners contracted with a local gentleman named Tommy to guide us in. Tommy asked us to reach out to him shortly before we arrived and then he met us at a nearby church. From there we followed him a couple miles on both paved and unpaved roads. When we got to our location to park for the night, Tommy gave us all instructions on what to do, what to expect, and do's and don't for the cave. Next we grabbed our bags and headed down to the cave! Tommy took several of our bags himself because I was assisting my 70+ year old mother down the rather steep pathway to the cave. Don't ask me how, but I got my mom down to the cave without incident. Tommy also gave us a small geology lesson as we descended down to the cave's entrance.

When we opened the sliding glass door, the cave was like nothing we could have imagined, the pictures on google really don't do it justice. It had, a large flat-screen tv, Wi-Fi, Siri controlled music throughout the entire place, it had a one touch lighting button that turned everything on or off, we had a refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, rock faced shower and jacuzzi tub, toilet, comfy bed and a lot more!!! The owners can containers of cat food and and birdy seed, which we could put out to encourage local wildlife to visit.

So back to talking about dinner, it was backpacked in by Tommy just before we arrived and there was simple reheating instructions to ensure the meal was perfect and truly, it was. We all dished up our individual meals and went out of the patio to enjoy our sunset meal. There's nothing like a bottle of wine, wonderful meal prepared by a chef, and a sunset to end an amazing day. The rest of the night we listened to music, played games and watched the stars, although it gets cold outside pretty quick after the sun goes down.

The next morning we enjoyed coffee, pastries and yogurt that the owners had provided for us. Honestly, there's a ton of stuff they had to nibble on if you got hungry. To end our experience there I decided to break out my drone (DJI Spark) to capture the perfect picture from far off the cliffs of me and my whole family . I sat at the table, turned everything on and whoosh, there went my drone into the air. The down side was, 5 seconds after it when over the cliff my drone shut off and plummeted to the ground below. With no obvious way to retrieve it, I packed up and left with my chin on my chest. Amazingly, I got a call me Tommy and the owners 2 days later telling me they had retrieved my drone and that it didn't look too banged up. These guys really went above and beyond!!! If anyone is curious about Kokopelli Cave I say do it, it's awesome!!!!

Btw, there's a tradition that's also done when you stay there, you find the perfect rock, color it and then find a place to put it. There are 100's of rocks that are colored throughout the cave, see if you can...
