We booked a two night stay in early October, 2023, after being told that the property had been updated in May,2023. The lobby with fireplace, as pictured on the website, appeared as having been updated. That's where it ended. The hallway carpet flooring was old and split in a number of places. The room itself was microscopic in dimensions with the double bed encroaching into the bathroom door a couple inches. Between the bed and the wall there was a disgusting place on the carpet appearing soiled by (use your imagination). The shower was tiny, similar to those on an Amtrak train. The shower head was quite low on the wall and it required bending over significantly to rinse shampoo. There was a general musty odor consistent with mildew. Reservation was described as non-refundable - which is their method for keeping money which is undeserved. We left after one night and would not have stayed then had it not been so late at night and little to no area alternative to stay at. There was another couple in the lobby area next morning discussing what they were going to do - having booked such a low quality, poor condition location. I told them good luck and that we were leaving. Next day I communicated this all to the owner and requested a refund for at least the second night - which we didn't stay for. They refused to refund and instead tried to defend the property saying how much they had done to it. In addition they said I needed to have said something before I left. There was no one at the facility to discuss anything with - so that makes that requirement senseless. They refused to refund any portion of what we paid. Judging the reviews about the site makes me believe friends and relatives must have completed the feedback. Low quality facility. Same is true for the...

This place is very nice, Bob is an incredible host. Rooms are comfy and the facility is quite large and offers a lot of different areas to relax. Breakfast was incredible, delicious, really proper, more than I would ever normally eat before a ski day lol. This is not my typical type of place (more of a hostel ski bum type), but it was a nice treat. Very close to major hills.

Here's my complaints: No (mini) fridge in the room - this is a basic and kind of crucial feature for keeping any kind of food/take out/drinks good. Was frustrated having to use tiny little ice bowls to keep a couple beers cold at a time, let alone all the food I had to leave in my car to freeze. Snow clearing - So my stay was during one of the biggest snowstorms they'll probably get this year, which was great for skiing, but challenging for property maintenance. I can understand their plow service was likely overloaded, but at 4pm after skiing all day the parking lot and driveway were completely unplowed, with over a foot of snow. As visitors came back from the hill, we all struggled to spin our way into a parking spot, and pray that we'd get out in the morning. The plow came, and we all got out, but I did have to shovel my way to a parking spot after a full day of skiing, which was not ideal. As a Canadian, I didn't have cellular service, so having to call to check in, get a drink or make any other request wasn't ideal. Some sort of bell system would solve this, but It wasn't a major issue. This is the ski bum in me, but a microwave would be nice, even if in a common area. I hate being basically forced to eat out every night.

Otherwise this place is great - very Vermont, very 'homie'...

I just stayed at the White Horse Lodge in Waitsfield VT. What a great experience! Context...I've stayed at all the local lodges along with AirBnB places...this by far surpasses all of those places.

Context on my review...up for 2 nights and 3 days of skiing. Overview of the property Great location...about 5-7 minutes to North aka Mt Ellen and ~8-12 minutes to South aka Lincoln Peak so net net great location!

Only 1 mile to local great restaurant (Hyde Away) and about 7-10 mins to Mad River Barn and 10-12 minutes to downtown for groceries (Grand Union, liquor store, etc.).

Rooms very comfortable and welcoming.

Community fridge along with area for making your own meal (i.e. breakfast, store some beers, snacks) along with 3 areas to relax in ....main lobby with 2-3 couches, plenty of chairs, downstairs to eat breakfast and room next to that to play pool, take works calls/zoom meetings/etc. Oh and the kitchen area has plenty of types of glasses, mugs, bowls along with utensils for your meals.

Welcoming Inn Keepers with Zan & Dana who truly want you to enjoy your experience.

Priced right according to market, fact they don't have a bar/restaurant but yet those options are close by.

Easy parking.

Welcoming and friendly fellow guests who respect your time away but yet are friendly.

Again great experience! I'll be up here and staying here again 2-3 more times this year and I know this will be my go to place.

Thank you again to the owners and especially Zan & Dana for making me feel welcome, at home, comfortable and truly exceeding...

LOVED IT!! We came to this lodge for a friends wedding. When we arrived the inn keeper told us that they just changed hands this week and there were a few changes. They were renovating the bar so we were allowed to bring in our own alcohol, which the previous owners would not because they had a bar. She was super friendly and available for questions pretty much any time of the day or night. The rooms were so comfortable and the decor fit the style of the lodge perfectly. We were also told that when we left they were stripping all the rooms and replacing them with new beds and furniture. They did have a very nice breakfast as well. They're also renovating the kitchen area. I loved the fireplace/library room, brand new leather furniture. It was so quaint and relaxing reading a book, visiting with friends or just chilling. The atmosphere was perfect. They will be replacing the real fireplace with an electric one due to safety issues. All in all this place was awesome and the hospitality of the staff was even better. I would recommend this place to anyone.

A true gem, right across the street from the Mount Ellen base area at Sugarbush Resort. From the road and entryway, it looks like a cute, quaint Nordic inn. It is welcoming from the first step you make inside, with the front desk with all sorts of handwritten welcome notes on faux chalkboards and goodies and treats surrounding it. The rooms are super comfortable, with warm, decorative blankets and pillows, a mini fridge, as well as quintessential Vermont décor (such as a painted cow wearing glasses). The rooms are quite spacious and warm. There are also some nice common spaces, such as a beautiful fireplace living room, game room, dining area, and large fridge, microwave, and coffee area, and even laundry. However, the best amenity: after a cold day of skiing, the innkeeper baked cookies for the guests! I think every guest smiled when they walked in to the smell of freshly-baked cookies! I stay at the White Horse Lodge every weekend, when I ski at Sugarbush. It is, by far, my favorite place to stay in the Mad River Valley! Soon, it will be yours too!

I loved this place. Rooms are small with 2 beds in them but super cute. No tub, and shower was very small but bathroom itself was bigger than typical hotel bathrooms. Clean and organized. Owners very responsive to my friend who made the reservation. We stayed 2 nights and will definitely stay here again. The game room, and dining area were excellent. Free coffee and tea. Snacks available for purchase for only a buck, and other things like packets of Tylenol or feminine products were also available for purchase. You just venmo them the $. Totally based on honor system which I found so wonderful. Their attention to detail was what really made this place special. From the fresh individual flowers in tiny vases, to the directions on how to use the TV, to the puzzle that's set up for anyone to put some pieces in, to the decorations all over the place, to the free little bags of ice...I cannot say enough good things. Quiet, and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.
