My wife and I spent an enjoyable week at Northern Lights Resort on Dead Lake in Ottertail County, MN. We stayed in cabin 9, which was very comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was adequately stocked (you never know so we've learned to bring essential cookware and measuring utensils just in case). The beds were comfortable with plenty of room to walk around. The view of the lake was spectacular as we arrived just as the fall colors were peaking. The resort is easy to reach by car and is located on a small, sheltered bay, making docking our boat easy-even when winds were a bit stiff. There is a nice boat launch right at the resort-very convenient. The fishing was very good for largemouth bass, northern pike, and sunfish. We also caught a few nice crappies and a few smaller walleyes. There were as many small sunfish around the docks to keep small kids entertained as long as their interest lasts and larger sunfish that bit tiny crankbaits a little deeper. The weather was cool, overcast, and windy the week we were there but we dressed appropriately and fished every day except Friday due to thunderstorms. Instead we took a drive in the area and visited Maplewood State Park, where we hiked a beautiful trail. When we left, the resort had a boat decontamination station free for use by guests. Highly recommended.

I brought my kids to Northern Lights for one last fishing trip during MEA. We weren't planning on fishing the first day. But, my daughter went out to the dock anyways. Caught a bass, sunfish, northern one after another. My son got jealous and ran out there. Instantly caught a walleye off the dock! The fishing boat we rented ran great. Mark gave excellent instruction of the lake, and was very accommodating. It was an amazing trip. We're planning on coming back next year.

Tons of fun for the whole family! My family and I are repeat visitors and we have been impressed with how well this resort is run. I know there are many options out there but you don't need to look any further to find a place that is both beautiful and serene yet accommodating to people of all ages. Their cabins are perfect for groups small and large. The beach is well kept with boat and pontoon rentals to access the great fishing. There are so many activities for the kids, both in and it if the water, that you won't hear the dreaded, I'm bored! The also have a camping area if you are more of a diy camper. They have everything you need in one place, not to mention the whole area is gorgeous! It's great to meet owners that really take pride in running a nice resort like...

Spent Memorial Day weekend at Northern Lights Resort. It was fantastic. The resort owners are amazing, laid back, service oriented people. The cabin was clean, orderly, and functional.

Nestled in a quiet bay of Dead Lake, we enjoyed a lot of fishing and Kayaking. They bay was essential as the wind made fishing on the main part of the lake too difficult to bother. During our trip, the crappies weren't biting as expected, but we caught a lot of Northern (all small) that were hitting the lines hard and often.

THis was our first trip to this resort, and we rebooked...
