The Hideaway at Xanadu was the perfect setting to host a retreat! The nonprofit organization I direct has hosted multiple retreats at Xanadu and it never disappoints! We have participants that travel from all over the country (mostly big cities) and they are always so wow'd by the beauty and tranquility of the island. The main house has 7 beautiful bedrooms (6 of them have their own private bathrooms and there is a bunk room with 4 twin beds which is perfect for kids!) and lots of communal spaces for people to hang out. The kitchen has absolutely everything you might need to cook a big meal, lots of fridge/freezer space, and an incredible dining table that fits like 25 people around it! The house is the perfect mix of historical and updated - you definitely feel like you're in a historic cabin...but there's air conditioning and comfy beds! The island itself is so magical and includes the use of boats, floaties, swim raft and dock. We also utilize the beautiful renovated barn that is on the property for classes and events during our retreat. It's a showstopper space! The owner, Nicole, is communicative, helpful and welcoming. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at Xanadu with a large group in the house, your family in a cabin or just you in...
Read moreI am not even sure where to start with this review. My husband and I held our wedding on the island this past weekend, and were absolutely blown away by the beauty, experience, and support we had throughout our time spent.
We were able to accommodate our wedding party and close family for two nights in clean, tastefully and historically decorated, unique rooms and cabins, while also having access to quite literally everything you need to have a lake getaway. The owner was swift with repairing small hiccups, and answering any last minute questions.
On the day of our wedding, we had access to an on site staff member who helped with quite literally anything and everything I needed. She even took a ton of photos for us!
If you want an outdoor wedding or event, where you can look out to see guests dancing, conversing around a fire, sitting on a hammock, fishing, and paddle boarding all at the same time - this is your place. I could not recommend The Hideaway at Xanadu Island more! We look forward to returning with our family for...
Read moreWhen you are trying to find this place, your first reaction is "where is it? Did we miss it?" Next, it's "What have we done?" The roads to the B&B are dirt back roads. But once you get there, all you can say is "WOW!" The building is quaint and very lovely. The scenery is breathtaking! The owners, Bubba and Margie, are so friendly and hospitable that you feel you are a guest in their home! (We left feeling we were leaving friends!) There are lots of things to do, watersports and walking around the grounds, watching the wildlife, etc. The rooms are just beautiful -- we stayed in the Master Bedroom, and it was just lovely, and extremely comfortable. The weather was mild, but we almost wished it was a little cooler so we could light up the fireplace in the room and sit in front of it on the pretty wicker glider! We woke each morning to birdsong! The breakfasts were just spectacular! A treat for both the eyes and the taste buds! We just loved it here, and would give it our highest...
