We had a wonderful stay at Canyon Vista Campground. It's remarkably close to the city, Flagstaff, but tucked away in the forest, it feels remote. We went in June 2019, and it wasn't crowded at all. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. They came by and checked that we had everything we needed and offered us water. They gave us a general idea of the campground. They had installed little motion sensor lights in the bathroom, so you don't have to fumble with phones or flashlights to use the loo. They have a box of reading materials, books, maps, etc. like a little free library set up. They had 5 wonderful dogs, all leashed, controlled and super friendly and adorable. A few are trained therapy dogs, just wonderful sweet, quiet dogs. It was so clear to me that the hosts really took pride in making sure their guests had a good experience at the campground. I don't think I've ever stayed at a campground where the hosts went so out of their way to make sure I felt at home. I highly recommend this campground to travelers, or locals who just want a chance of scenery, just minutes...
Read moreWe had arrived in flagstaff and were in need for a campsite that's near the town center. Canyon vista is super close to the town! Quick 10-15 min drive right from downtown flagstaff which is ace. The campsite itself is pretty small and has something like 15 sites, but we managed to get a campsite there at 3pm which was great. It was in mid October so it's a bit off season which worked for us. They have nice and spacious sites, vault toilets and water on site which was good. I've camped in a lot of national forests and this was the first ever time where the campground host comes to you for payment of the site which was different and kinda weird. Thought that was a bit odd but that seems to be the way it's done in Coconino National Forest. The hosts were nice though which is good, we also managed to get some 4G on this campsite which is always a plus! Would stay here again, had a pleasant stay and sleep in this...

Most are big enough to accommodate large motor homes and fifth wheels. No hooks ups, no dump. Does have vault toilets. Plenty of peace and quite, open camp sites with tall pines. |The campground overlooks Sandy Canyon with incredible views. Hiking and climbing is right outside your door. The Sandy Canyon Trial is adjacent to the park, which eventually connects to the Arizona trail. |The campground is extremely well kept by two very pleasant camp hosts. |I have be coming here for over 10 years (a 2 hour drive from Phoenix). Currently, I have a 35...
