We love this place! We've been in coming here at least twice a year for probably 10 years. It's grown with us, from before we had kids and we slept in a leaky tent, to now on our second trailer and a full family. The camp hosts are always so great, hospitable. They even helped us back in our trailer on our first ever trailer camping trip. We always feel at home here.

Unfortunately, just today we experienced the worst homophobia from a camp host ever. Honestly, I'm devastated with the conversation I just had to have with my two kids about why the camp host was so blatantly rude to us.

We pull up to fill with water, as normal, and the camp host comes out to collect the $5. No big deal. Chatting with my wife. All's well.

When I come out of the truck the camp host visibly changes. Our fee, not even joking, jumped from $5 to $10 in an instant. When I respectfully and light-heartedly ask why, saying we come here every year, she said, "That's how we do things now." Honestly, she might as well have said that was the LGBTQ fee or something.

She repeatedly apologized to the family in line behind us, as if we were taking our time purposefully. My youngest son asked if we were staying at that campsite and I told him, "I don't think we're wanted here."

She nodded. So, we left. I'm so disappointed...so saddened...so angry. This was our place. For ten years this has...

I wish I could give different star ratings for different aspects. 1. Cleanliness: 5 STARS!! Very well maintained. Bathrooms and showers are very clean, camp spots are raked each time someone leaves. 2. Staff, 5 STARS...very friendly and helpful. Don’t know why they need four hosts, but there maybe a legit reason...I didn’t ask. 3. Spots: 2 STARS. We reserved spot 24 for our 39’ fifth wheel. The low hanging branches and the unmovable cement picnic table at the back of the spot wouldn’t accommodate us although the website said 42’ was max size for that spot. Many of the spots appear to be perfect if you are tent, car, or small unit camping. Spot 30 will hold a big rig as will 41 (non-reservable). The campsites are closer together than what we like. In fact, when they squeezed us in spot 1, we were literally 10’ away from the host site front door...way too close....they could sit on their patio and watch everything in our trailer. Overall: 3.5 STARS. Nice place to go if you need one night, or are local going out for the weekend. If you are a tent camper and like having clean showers to use, this is...

We were evacuated from a nearby campground to the Pine Grove Campground. Our stay at the Pine Grove Campground was amazing. Dennis does a fantastic job with maintaining a clean and functional shower facility, while Abby does a great job keeping an eye on him. The showers were clean hot and available during our stay.

The camp hosts (Chris & Cathy, Tim & Becky) were warm and welcoming. We couldn't ask for better hosts. This was one of the most tranquil campgrounds and we felt safe during our stay. The hosts consistently monitored the campground to ensure guests were accommodated. The campground was pleasantly quiet (with an occational buzzing sound of generators from time to time). We enjoyed the tall trees and beautiful landscape. This was the perfect environment to train our search and rescue doberman puppy.

Many thanks to the Pine Grove Camp hosts and staff for making our trip memorable, peaceful and...

Pine Grove has no hookups but does sport a lot of nice camp sites. They are paved and come in all sizes and shapes. They have drive throughs and backins. There are no hookups but you can fill up your fresh water tank, if you have one and dump your black and gray water free of charge if you camp there. The actual sites are well kept. One thing that is nice is the proximity to Flagstaff AZ, a 30 minute drive on a wide well paved road. Actually many of the roades in and around Flag are undergoing repaving, very nice. One picture is of our actual site the other two are of very nearby Lake Mary. Don't bother fishing in Lake Mary. At this time of year the lake is about 12 or more feet low and so muddy you can't see a lure more than six inches below the surface. No fish can see a lure in those conditions.

This campsite is set very nice. They are very well maintained and the people are just so nice. They have running water in the bathroom. They have two stalls and multiple bathrooms. They have a spot to shower for a few dollars. They also have a dump station. The camp spots have one table, a fire pit, a grill and a stop for tents. Most of them have two parking spots. They sell ice and firewood if you need it. The lake isn’t near the campground. It’s very close you will pass it on your way to the campground. The weather is amazing and seems to rain often.(at least when I went). They is a family of brown hawks.(might not be the right bird) you will see them flying around.

We stayed in site #19 which likely offered the most sun of the campground sites offer for solar needs. Fairly level as well. Early October and we got pushed out due to frigid temps after four nights. It must have been one of those breaks schools get due how many kids were playing in the roadway with oblivious parents allowing large RVs to pass by so closely. The area is also popular for the UTV crowd so that was some extra noise we weren't counting on. A few trails nearby but nothing too interesting. We befriended a camp host who claimed it was normally far quieter here. We're full time hiking RVr's, blog link in bio.
