I want to start by saying this is the cutest little area to stay.
As we arrived we checked in and immediately walked down to the clubhouse area where they had a fire going and some concessions in the cutest little food truck. Everything is so aesthetic here and so intentionally placed.
We came here for 4 nights as our first annual mother daughter trip and memories of this place will forever be cherished. We had absolutely no issues. Our cabin was a garden view I believe? 1 bedroom with a loft of 2 twin beds up top but those were not used. I either slept on the couch or got in the bed with my mom. The couch is pretty comfy to sleep on and both the living room and bedroom have TVs that you can sign into any of your streaming services. The kitchen: had the sweetest little coffee bar and the bare necessities. They have cups, plates and some cooking material but if you are actually planning to cook more than just eggs for breakfast, I would suggest bringing your own pans and utensils. It was great for us though! Storage : no where to hang clothes and not many places to store luggage so I let my mom use the little luggage nook for her stuff and I kept my bags by the seat between the front door and kitchen countertop. I would plan on using the dresser provided and MAYBE if you have one or two things that need hung up, hang it on the floor tended lamp and keep it turned off. When we arrived we heard there was a bear sighting in the trash the night before so we made sure to never leave trash or food outside, cleaned out our cars each night, locked our cars and made sure to lock the cabin at bedtime. Parking: is nice if you only have 1 car but we had 2 so it was a little crammed since you share a parking pad with your next door neighbors. Atleast at our cabin. They had room to pull all the way up but ours we had to squeeze in next to each other. The next door guests were very nice about us squeezing in next to them since there is no street parking. I’m not sure what the alternative would be. There’s some beautiful plants and flowers growing right here on the property. A lot of hydrangeas, wild blackberries and more. Im not sure if the blackberries had been sprayed with any pesticides so I didn’t know at them but they are edible! Entry into the cabin area is a little steep from the road and even though it looks like one way it is a two way road so be conscientious when entering and don’t go flying through there. It’s definitely a recipe for disaster if you go over the hill and can’t see oncoming traffic going fast. We had an issue with a wasp nest underneath the lip of our hot tub out back. I texted them there was a nest in our hot tub and within 10 minutes 2 people showed up to take care of it and clean up the remnants. They were ON IT! Even after hours! Since it was about 6pm on Friday. We asked midway through our stay about trash (texted the number that had texted us check in instructions) and they said to leave it out front and someone would come get it within the hour. We did and it was gone fairly quickly. Shower pressure is not the best and the water heats up to a dangerous temperature! But all of these are very minor inconveniences that I definitely learned to live with over our trip. Overall this was a great place to stay with just the two of us and we would definitely return if we ever come back to Asheville!
Activity suggestions: we did -Blue Heron White water rafting (they will take such great care of you. Definitely recommend 5 stars!), -the artesian buffet at the Omni (hidden gem! Bonus points : Friday night is all you can eat seafood and crab legs) -Claying around for pottery, painting and GLADS FUSION! One of the highlights of our trip. -haunted trolley tour -since parking is expensive go to chestnuts for dinner while you’re down here! Great unique meals. -Biltmore VIP tour. Definitely recommend the VIP tour. They take you in areas the regular public can’t go behind the red ropes. -carriage ride at the Biltmore! -Asheville mountain bike adventures for bike rides past...
Read morePros: I love the location. You are about 15 minutes from everything. Which made this trip easy for us. It is behind a neighborhood, so it's quiet all the time. When we stayed there weren't many people there, so that could also contribute. Check in is easy and contactless. You do everything through an app and have a phone number they give you on the second day when they check in with you. We saw geese and they left enough of the grass to see wild flowers. When you stay here nature is all around you. The hot tub was great. Stayed hot, had no smell and we had no ill effects from it. The t.v. had enough for us to enjoy our downtime in the evening. You can log into your different streaming services or watch local t.v. They provide two towels, two wash clothes, one towel to put down on the floor and one bathroom rug. They also provide a small Palmolive dish soap for us to wash the cups, bowls plates, pots and pans provided.
Cons: When we arrived to cabin 208 it smelled like wet dog. We sent a text to the managing phone number and maintenance showed up about 10 minutes later (which is great!) but the answer was, "The last people probably had a dog" I answered with, "Yeah, but once you guys clean the smell should be gone" After that maintenance was just sorry the smell was annoying. There was no offer to come in and clean again, no offer to move to another cabin. We were not able to sleep the first night because the bedroom section was hot. Even after opening windows. At first maintenance offered a box fan to try and get the cooler air into the bedroom section. We took it and then were offered a window unit. I figured out what the smell in the cabin was: the kitchen area was not clean. When I pulled out bowls, pan, etc. they still had food on them. When I looked at the top section of the very cute refrigerator, something was smeared on it. I cleaned it up and the other food left there and the smell went away. I informed management and they apologized, but did not offer any money back for having to clean portions of the cabin. We ran out of toilet paper and went up to the office area. No one was around. These two things really ruined it for me. We probably...
Read moreMy review of Ashville River Cabins sales process is bait and switch. Selling what the customer thinks is a 425 sq. ft. cabin and give them a 190 sq. ft. cabin. Just not a surprise you want a11pm after a long trip. The cabins themselves are beautiful& clean. Check-in was easy and the directions were good. The cabin was only one room that was 7 ft wide and 23 ft long. The dining and sitting area are outside. (We stayed during a major heat wave & storms) The bathroom sink is so small that just to brush your teeth, you hit your head on the shelf above. When I texted the Manager/Owner about the problem, she apologized for the wrong picture/cabin type but refused to fix the issue, even when I offered to pay more for a vacant cabin that was listed on their website. Please note we have stayed in tiny homes and cabins previously, so we knew exactly what we needed and that is what was pictured but not delivered. At this point, my funds were nonrefundable, the cabin that was way too small and the owner offered no other options. Plus she refused the option I found. My husband spent the four days trying to work off whatever type of flat surface we could find. The owner offered to bring a table in but never showed up with one. We drug the round bistro table from the front porch for workspace. So my review is the cabins themselves are great, however, I feel the sale of the cabins is a bait and switch process. If you choose to buy from here,...
