A great campground in the Pisgah National Forest just outside of Asheville NC. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were very clean and well kept up as was the entire campground. We stayed in site 46 in the Lakeside loop. All sites (36 - 57), in that loop are paved sites with full hookups. You'll need leveling blocks as the sites have a pretty good pitch to the drivers side rear corner. Additional notes, it is black bear country, so be aware of your surroundings for yourself and your pets! Easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance.

While the beach area is nothing special, the scenic trail around Lake Powhatan is a definite highlight. You'll find a nice picnic area right by the parking lot and beach. Keep in mind that the fishing pier is accessed from a different road, and restrooms are conveniently located at the top of the steps.

Nice shaded walking trails around the lake. A few areas for grilling and picnics. Beautiful scenic area. Restroom facilities and both camping and “glamping” sites available as well.

Some friends and I went camping in November, a man at the facility who said his name was Billy Harris, was very rude. 6 of us from different cities trickled in between 8 and 10pm on a Friday night to gather for a reunion. We were a little noisy setting up and greeting each other. We were warned to be quite around 9:45 pm, which was fine, but the manner in which he told us was very rude and disrespecful. We also had three cars which fit in the drive without sticking out, and we had paid the extra fee. The next morning shortly after getting up, Billy swings by while we were making breakfast rudely tells us to move our 3rd car, and swiftly drives off without leaving any time to ask why or where to put the car. Probably less than 10 minutes later, while we are eating our breakfast Billy comes by again and rudely says "Are you going to move this car or not" and again rushes off. Billy alone put a major damper on our trip and view of the campground. Campground personell are normally a joy to be around. I have never come across such an angry, rude campground person until him. On top of that there just weren't enough restrooms; the campground wasn't even half full and the wait was bad. I can't imagine what it must be like in the summer waiting...

We had 4 people and two tents at Bent Creek 29/29. The site looked larger than it was. There were signs about 5 feet from the fire pit that said no camping beyond this point, and the road was about five feet on the other side. Even so, it was good sized for our large tents, one 9 person and one 6 person. There is a bear box on the site, too.

The showers and bathroom are located in the center of each loop. Ours was about 25 feet up the path with 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. These were clean and well maintained.

The sites are pack gravel with little natural. There is no place to hang hammocks. The other issue is driving stakes for the tens. You will need heavy tent stakes. We could not drive the stakes more than 3 to 4 inches.

There is no water on the site, but it is close by.

The staff is friendly.

The fishing was non-existent. We talked to multiple people and tried a lot of baits. In three days, our group caught one bass . We saw only on other fish, a small blue gill. Don't go for the fishing.

The trails are OK.

Don't know if we...

Very nice campground well maintained and the hosts were always riding around which kept things quiet. The only complaint which is a big one, is that there was a line to the bathroom almost every time I tried to go. There are only 2 unisex bathrooms for about 70+ people, that seems absolutely ridiculous to me! The showers were nice with plenty of hooks to hang things and they were super clean, but the locks didn't work and since it was also unisex, a man actually opened the door when I was getting out of the shower, luckily I saw the door move and yelled before he saw anything. Having to wait 20 minutes to go to the bathroom is frustrating, having to worry about strangers walking in when you're in the shower is scary. If you have your own camper with a bathroom, you're going to love this campground, if your planning to bring your tent, I'd pick another place or be prepared to wait to use the facilities. My recommendation to the campground, add sinks to the shower rooms, fix the locks on the showers, and build about 3 more...
