We love Oregon House. Have been coming here for 37 years, off & on. We stay at The Cottage. It is a small little cabin with a king-sized bed, gorgeous views of the ocean & spectacular sunsets - providing the sky is not too cloudy. It doesn't matter because you are on the beach. A short walk to the walkway & down a little slope & then stairs & you step onto one of the prettiest beaches in Oregon. The great thing is that each unit has a kitchen. You can cook your own meals if you want. The Cottage has been updated & is not quite as comfy as it used to be. Years ago, there was a comfy loveseat, no TV, a small range to cook on. There is a smart TV with ROKU, a taller table in the 'kitchen' with one stool & a larger round table in the 'living room' with two padded chairs. The bathroom has been updated in a modern style, which is a great improvement over the old one. The grounds are beautiful. There are benches around a large piece of grass, flowering plants, fir trees, & other coastal plants & shrubs. Even though Highway 101 is just above the property, the sounds of the ocean waves drown out any loud vehicles. Check-in is at 5 p.m. come any earlier & you won't be able to get in your unit. Check out is at 11 a.m. You must lock your door by 11, or you might have to pay for another night. There are no staff here other than to clean after guests have left. Cell service is spotty, but there is strong WiFi to connect your devices. There are 9 short-term rental units (all oceanfront) contained in 5 different buildings. The units consist of 4 studio units, 4 one bedroom units, and one 3 bedroom unit. So you can pick your favorite...
Read moreWe stayed at cottage #4 in early April. It's pretty much a studio with a small kitchen, large bathroom and a tile shower big enough to wash a couple great danes(no pets allowed). The nearby road was only noticed when a truck would use their engine brake which was not very often other than that just the ocean, wind, birds and variable rains. The heater was steady and once the place was up to temp it never really varied. There was also a nice ceiling fan and an hd tv with some movie options as well as a dvd blue-ray player. Our only issue was the wi-fi which was accessible from standing in the road in front of the cottage. The fridge has enough space for two people with a couple days of food. We brought a cook top for cooking outside and had a small cooler with ice for extra items knowing there was only a bar sized fridge. Florence is only 20min away so it is a quick stop for more supplies if you are staying longer. As for the beach access it is a steep but reasonable pathway down leading to steps with rails ending at high traction metal steps that are pretty steep and without a rail. As long as you do not have a problem with balance on stairs it is fine. The beach is semi private with access from adjecent properties but it appears to be only 2 other paths. If you like shore fishing or campfires on the beach it looks like a great spot, there are even a few tide pools to the north on top of the rocks at low tide. If this review has helped please give me a very appreciated thumbs up. Enjoy the enviroment, plan for what is there or isnt..... a thumbs up is appreciated if this...
Read moreTERRIBLE stay and even worse customer service. We did not have running water for the majority of our less than 36 hr stay (which cost $550) and when I reported this issue when we came back from a hike, I was told that we didn’t report it until our last night...we only stayed 2 nights and arrived at 2am the night before! Woke up, went on a hike, returned around 4pm, tried to shower and wash my baby’s bottles from the day and had zero water. We immediately contacted Vacasa (who manages the property apparently) and then Air bnb where we booked. An hour later I was able to get a few cups of water from the sink, enough to wash the bottles but then it stopped again. A response came at 1am that evening that someone would come in the morning. Well we had to check out by 11am, without showering, and still never heard a word until after we left. Days after checking out, after numerous phone calls and emails, we were told that the water worked fine and basically that I was lying but they’d give me a courtesy $54 refund of the $550 we paid. Ridiculous! We might as well have camped if we wanted a place with no running water! Good thing I took a video of the shower not working but apparently they still did not care. Totally unacceptable and terrible customer service on the parts of Vacasa Oregon and Air BnB. If there is a shared water tank, there needs to be enough capacity for 2 adults to rinse off and wash 3 baby bottles. If that isn’t possible, then there is a serious problem when you are charging $275/night for your unit. Completely disappointed and so sad this is how we started our...
