The staff was friendly, but the campground was really run down. It has a lot of potential, nice view of the mountains, but that's about where it ends. We were told that they didn't hold sites (but they guaranteed a reservation), but if we got there early enough, we would really like being near the river. Well, my cousin got to the campground first, he said that the 4 river sites were reserved - no one on the sites, so that's how we ended up where we were. On the right side of our camper, there was glass from a busted window in the grass, so had to keep the kids away from that. Our site had no grass (or gravel would have been nice) in front of it, so I had to go spend $80 on a mat so the kids wouldn't bring dirt in the camper. The first night we camped there, we had a campfire. The next day we were going to start another fire, and we discovered a crack/meth pipe in the pit, so someone during the overnight hours had visited our site and left that treat. The water slide, which looks cool on the website, had water at the bottom of the slide. My youngest son went down it the first time, and turned his wrist, which we learned yesterday that it is fractured (we thought he sprained it), so now he is in a cast. We did the tubing, which they did say the water was down, but as much walking as we did, they should have just suggested we not do it until the water was back up. Terrible experience here, not sure how it has such great reviews, but I guess everyone has different expectations. We tried to make the best of it since we had already paid, but it won't happen again. It looks more like a run down trailer park. It does have a lot of potential, but definitely disappointing.
I've modified my posting today with the pictures that disappeared from my original posting with the meth/crack pipe that we found in our fire...
ย ย ย Read moreWe stayed in a tiny cabin. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Our location had a fire pit, charcoal grill and a hot tub. Hot tub was clean and well maintained. I would have liked it to be more secluded but that was my personal preference. People from the camper areas were walking with flashlights up and down the road in front of the cabin while we were in the hottub. It would be great if the hot tubs were out of public viewing. The grass desperately needed to be cut. Maybe if they know of a specific site being rented, they could cut at least that site....just a suggestion. The staff, from talking on the phone to everyone we encountered in person, was incredibly friendly and so helpful. The water was perfect temps and tubing was fun. The tubes are in wonderful condition. The water level was kinda low for a relaxing float but that's not fault of their own. The bathrooms and showers were in decent condition. The water was warm and we were happy about that. It is in a campground, so the rest was expected. One major thing that was frustrating is having to pay separate for tubing during your stay at their campground. The campground doesn't offer anything except really tubing. I believe tubing should be included in your stay. I understand it's only $12 a person, but if a family of 6 chose your campground to camp in and make memories, they may not be able to afford the extra cost of the one thing that's really advertised and offered for this campground. We made the best of it and have great memories. We will...
ย ย ย Read moreTook the youth group from our church here. Paid $12 per person for the water slide, tubing and a snow cone that was a block of ice because they made it and put in the freezer before we got there. The snow cone was suppose to be free. Well we got there around 2:45. Waited 1 &1/2 hours and there were still 2 groups to go ahead of us for tubing. We would not have gotten on the river until 5:30 and not finished until 7:30. We were suppose to be back at the church for parents to pick up their kids at 6:30. We had to leave and didnโt get to tube down the river. They only gave us back 1/2 our money because she charged us for the snow cone and the water slide. It was a dirty blow up water slide that had sand all over it because there was not any grass around. They told us they could get us on the river by 4 but at 4:30 with 2 groups still ahead of us we decided not to go down the river due to time constraints. They said first come first serve but they lied about getting us on the river at a decent time (4pm). If you run a business you have to be honest with people no matter what. Donโt say one thing and do another. I understand first come first serve but Unless you want to wait 3 hours to go tubing down the river, I DO NOT...
