This is a difficult trail. No cellphone service. Bring water and walking stix as the trail can be quite challenging at times. We usually take the Summit route out and back. It is about 3.75mi total but it can feel like twice as much. We climb it 2-3 days each week so it's getting easier but nonetheless it is challenging. Watch for loose rocks/gravel, very slick, and slipping is easy to do! The trail can become quite narrow in places and close to the edge. Wearing a long sleeved thin shirt is recommended because some of the trail is overgrowth...no one wants poison oak, ivy or sumac. Watch for snakes too. We have seen several gardener snakes, so be on the lookout. Have a great hike and enjoy the spectacular viewpoint. Anyway,...
Read moreSuch a great place to go hiking with little kids. It’s mostly flat except when you decide to go off the path and closer to the river, which is very easy climb down. Going close to the river and off the path could be dangerous for little kids, they should be aided down and around the rocks. The sound of the water going down into the rocks is loud, therapeutical, so relaxing and beautiful. There’s so many trees and green foliage that’s a delight for the senses. Our red head golden retriever loves to climb in and out of the river and swim in the running cold water. It’s so much fun watching him enjoy the water. This is one of my most favorite spots to do a little exercise and relax next...

Friday was very frustrating with constant traffic. Friday night was the worst because people were coming up to their cars (12 feet from where out tent was posted) talking very loudly. This continued until at least 12 am, at which point we had to tell them to move. Again at 3 am more campers showed up right next to our campsite. The rest of the sites seem very secluded and quiet, this is clearly the worst spot on the campground. It was really beneficial to be next to the 3 major trail heads, and the water...
