A lovely place, very thoughtfully taken care of. The floors/carpets are meticulously clean -- you don't appreciate how important that is until you stay somewhere that makes it a priority. Parking, check-in, all easy. Room well-appointed and cozy. We were graciously offered a day-pass to use on one of our trips that saved us $20. Having plush robes to wear out to the sofa later where we watched a favorite show on the huge TV, while enjoying the fresh-baked cookies and tea, was fantastic. Overall a very positive experience.
Any critique I'll offer is gentle, and only shared because blithe praise doesn't really help anyone. The overhead lighting in our French Suite (i think it was called?) is LED and quite a cold, bluish hue that we found unsettling, so we left that off in lieu of the bedside lamps. I believe the sheets were mindfully chosen to be luxurious, and that is a lovely touch; I found them to feel soft and smooth but resembling synthetic material, and a little cloying because of that.
The breakfasts were also done with thoughtful aplomb and the breakfast experience was delightful, with a great view of bluejays and squirrels squabbling for food on the deck. That said, given how much the Inn touted their breakfasts, I found the quality a little lacking. The gravy was good; the biscuits were a bit mealy. The bacon was tasty but on the anemic side. The OJ was fine but far from having that fresh-squeezed appeal. But, the little warm muffins for starters with butter were great, and the bowl of peaches/apples were a very charming touch. I wouldn't mention any critique of the food, except that for the price of the room and how enthusiastically the breakfasts were lauded, I expected more -- but I'm judging against Seattle culinary expectations. Compared to food elsewhere in Forks, it was excellent. I just wonder if people traveling from bigger cities, and paying the luxury-level rates, may expect more.
Lastly: although the owner was incredibly gracious and helpful, she has something of a brusque energy that made my partner and me feel a little... intimidated? Uncomfortable? I fully appreciate that running such an establishment requires a lot of energy, but when we were served by one of her employees the next morning, before the owner arrived, we found the experience much more soothing and pleasant. I'm sure that experience will be different for each person so ours may not be representative. I'll emphasize that she was fantastically helpful and thorough in making sure we were...
Read moreThe Misty Valley Inn in Forks, WA is truly a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I found it on the internet when looking for places to get away. At first we thought it was too good to be true, but man did the website not lie! The rooms are beautiful and well kept, the furniture in the sitting room and tv room were extremely comfy! They have many varieties of tea, hot coffee, and freshly made desserts laid out in the dining room for anyone to have whenever! The tv was direct tv with hundreds of channels to choose from, so we were able to sit down and watch some tv after a long day's adventure. I have a very strict gluten intolerance and they accommodated for my needs. Usually places that serve gluten free options aren't very careful or anything they have is not really delicious. This BnB used gluten free flour in my souffle and it tasted wonderful! They even served me gluten free toast! I was so pleased and grateful for their wonderful hospitality. We had the French Room and it was better than anticipated. They made sure to freshen the rooms when we wanted them to instead of barging in and doing it. We had some personal stuff laying out so when they asked when we would like our room freshened it gave us some time to put things away. I appreciated this alot myself. Also there were really soft mats on the carpet on each side of the bed, which were amazing to wake up to. We had an emergency come up at home, and the inn keeper was understanding of our dilemma and only charged us for the one night we did stay instead of the 2 I had booked. This wonderful act of kindness saved our animals lives. Guaranteed my boyfriend and I will be coming back next year, if not sooner. This BnB is wonderful, and I simply cannot say enough about how completely gracious I am for all that they did to make my stay the best that...
Read moreI had to copy my review from Yelp because this place is just that** good.
We really stumbled into Misty Valley inn and are extremely grateful. My boyfriend booked us a stay at a completely separate accommodations for my birthday trip through the Olympic peninsula this weekend…we found out the day of ‘check in’ that he accidentally booked it for 3 weeks prior. Without a place to stay for the night, we were grateful that Misty Valley not only had vacancy for us, but exceeded ALL expectations.
We stayed in the Dutch Suite, which had a comfortable King bed, electric fireplace and an amazing bathroom with a walk in shower. It was so calming to fall asleep with our private deck a crack open and frogs singing as the rain fell. After one of the best sleeps of my life, breakfast really moved my soul.
Misty Valley Inn does a contactless check in and sends a text day of for your breakfast order, of which they offer pretty much anything you can ask for - vegan / vegetarian / gluten free / To-Go / eggs / waffles / pancakes. Breakfast was served in the dining room (if not to go) and it was a pleasantly unexpected 3 course meal.
I had the Logger Pancakes with orange syrup and my boyfriend had the eggs with bacon. A warm scone and spiced fruit was served first, along with our coffee and choice of juice. We enjoyed the ‘Misty’ morning view as birds flew in and ate seeds on the deck.
Our host, Dorinda, was a wealth of knowledge that was eager to understand how we can have the best experience in Washington possible. Out of all of our stays across the country, we’ve never had a host as gracious as she.
We will ensure to recommend the Misty Valley inn for anyone and everyone that might...
