Mahaffey's Moosehorn Resort — Hotel in Fort Frances

We reserved the Timberwolf, their largest cabin (more like a house) for August 2023. Our family consists of 3 families totaling 12 people, 6 adults and 6 children. Great option for a family that likes being together! The resort is very clean, has much to offer and is well managed by the Mahaffey family. Nice folks who care to please! Their son Josh is the Dockhand and he was awesome! We opted to clean our own fish, but he will do that if you like. As I've struggled with mobility the last 2 years, simply docking and undocking my boat has become an issue and Josh was there every time we decided to go out or when we returned. Same with our rental pontoon. The docks are all fairly new and offer electric hookups at each slip. They have a private boat ramp and boat fuel. The kids all had a blast swimming and fishing. The resort offers lots to do for kids, a private beach area with water toys and a playground area with swings. They all loved it! Walleye cabin #4 was a fantastic lodging and Moosehorn was an excellent central location for my excursions to Rainy, Kab, Ash, Crane visitor centers, and the dock was a perfect launching point for canoeing out into the lake, into the islands, and parallel to the shore in both directions. The dock was an amazing place to sit and watch the sunrise, along with lunes and gulls. Landscaping was immaculate. Interior was clean, comfy, and nature themed, and totally efficient for me as 1 person. I needed a cell phone but didnot have one, and Sean was more than gracious in lending me one of his to use, without extra charge. Josh and Ethan were nice guys and enjoyable to talk to and get to know. In my opinion, Kab section is prettier than Rainy, Ash, Crane. This resort is incredible. Not only are the grounds well maintained, the cabins and docs are clean and orderly. Josh was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about boats, fishing regulations and was all-round helpful, especially on the docs. Sean and Josh were SO polite, respectful, friendly and FUN! I came here with my cousin and uncle who are seasoned fishermen. I, on the other hand, am not. Both men have been coming to this resort for years (previous owners) and they have said that this place is just as well kept as it was before...if not BETTER! This is a great place to escape for a long weekend, for inexperienced and experienced fishers! Highly recommend! We will return! My only complaint would be the dang duck that likes to hang around The Walleye...
