Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Pete and Rachel have mastered the art of hospitality and exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed two nights at the Bee on the Brow for our second anniversary.

First, the location was beautiful and close to the main part of Mentone (about a 9 minute drive from the main strip). The design of the house was elegant and the yard was very well kept.

Upon our arrival, we were immediately greeted by Pete who generously offered to carry our bags in. Rachel warmly greeted us once we arrived indoors and gave us a quick run-down on some of the details of our stay. Behind her was a breathtaking view of the mountainside which was complemented by an impeccably decorated interior.

Our room was pristine and had a direct view out to that breathtaking mountainside. The shower was ornate and the tiles in the bathroom were hexagonal, tying the whole area to the “bee” theme. Plus, they had branded soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotions as well. These accouterments, of course, tied in perfectly to their Big Bee coffee (which was phenomenal) and their Bee on the Brow coffee mugs (branding + attention to detail).

Downstairs, Pete and Rachel left coffee (decaf after 6:30 PM) and snacks out for their guests as well as an assortment of other beverages including some craft beer. One night Rachel made fresh cookies and the other, fresh brownies. Both snacks were (no exaggeration) some of the BEST we’ve ever had!

Breakfast was always right on schedule and was the definition of gourmet both in flavor and execution. Each breakfast started out with a light course, e.g. honey biscuits, fresh fruit, fresh juice and coffee, etc. The main courses ranged from a heavenly quiche with asparagus and other vegetables to a BBQ pork and sweet potato hash topped with a perfectly cooked egg. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly executed - the presentation was flawless.

As if things couldn’t get any better, on our last breakfast with them, Pete and Rachel surprised us by baking a little “2” cookie and placing it in our breakfast appetizer - a thoughtful nod to our second anniversary. Again, with the Bee on the Brow, it was their incredible attention to detail and the thoughtfulness that pervaded the entire experience that made our stay so memorable.

We left on a Sunday morning, and, of course, as we were walking out to our car, Pete came running out with the last two brownies from the night before, bagged up for us for our ride home… even though the brownies didn’t make it home! Could you end on a better note? We think not.

We would 1000% recommend the Bee on the Brow to anyone looking for top-tier hospitality, thoughtfulness, cleanliness and incredibly delicious food. We will...

My husband surprised me with a getaway for our anniversary. This was my very first bed and breakfast experience, and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest hospitality and a freshly baked pie waiting for us. The setting is absolutely breathtaking. From the large back patio, we could sit for hours just taking in the panoramic view from the top of the mountain down into the valley. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with winding walkways and plenty of peaceful sitting areas to soak in the sights and sounds of nature.

Inside, the home is designed and decorated with such thoughtful attention to detail. Every room feels luxurious yet timeless, creating an atmosphere that’s both comfortable and elegant. We had our own private area, which was perfectly appointed and made us feel right at home. The bed was incredible (the sheets felt like being wrapped in a cloud) and I had some of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in ages.

There was a fully stocked snack and drink bar available 24/7. Whether we wanted a quick treat after exploring or a late-night drink while enjoying the view, it was such a thoughtful and convenient amenity that made the stay feel even more welcoming.

Breakfast was another highlight. The menu offered so many delicious choices that it was hard to decide, but both my husband’s and my meals were phenomenal. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

Pete and Rachel are truly exceptional hosts. They were quick to answer any questions and made it clear that if we needed anything at all, they were right there. At the same time, they respected our space and privacy, striking that perfect balance. They even had fresh flowers waiting in our room, and for our 3rd anniversary, they cut out a little number “3” to place on top of our breakfast as decoration, such an incredible example of the thoughtful detail they put into everything! They also gave us some recommendations for things to do in the area. The horse back riding they suggested was one of my favorite memories me and my husband has made.

It’s clear they know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to running a bed and breakfast. We left feeling completely refreshed and already looking forward to the next time. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s...

This rating for "Bee" is becoming redundant only because everything about this B&B is excellent, the food, service, atmosphere, value, etc., etc. However, I will try and let everyone know that this is an incredibly special place to come and hang out and just enjoy this "heaven on the brow." This last time we were there, late May 2025, is now our 5th or 6th visit, we're losing count, and we always book before we leave due to a lot of people are catching on to this wonderful B&B and dates are filling up quickly. The breakfast is incredible, the owners, Rachel and Pete have become our life-long friends and now that Menton, AL has added some really good restaurants, there is no reason for traveling very far for a wonderful experience. We always meet the most interesting people at the "Bee" and Rachel & Pete makes everyone feel like they are the only ones there....and now with the finding of a couple of good restaurants in the area, such as the Moon Lake Kitchen and Elevation Bistro in Menton and approx. 40 minutes away is Canyon Grill in Rising Fawn, Georgia for a good dinner and for pizza, salads and sandwiches head to the Menton Market for your casual enjoyment for dinner as well. With the Bee on the Brown having over 140 reviews and all 5 stars come and visit this incredible B&B and see for yourself how wonderful this piece...

Bee 🐝 on the Brow morning Lookout Mountain views. Add this to your travel list for North Alabama. Started by a husband and wife couple, Pete and Rachel, this B&B is charming. Pete spent 25 years in the Air Force before the couple decided to go to innkeeper school and open this special spot. #bamatwd #SweetHomeAlabama #alabama #visitnorthal #northalabama #travel #veteranownedandoperated #veteran #airforce #mountains #lookoutmountain #hotels #dekalbcounty @Visit North Alabama

What a wonderful mini-vacation for our entire family. We were in Mentone, AL for Camp Dropoff with our two daughters and their families. Rachel and Pete graciously allowed us to "take over" the Bee. We typically visit Bee on the Brow twice, yearly, but felt this would be an excellent chance to have the family all together while dropping off grandchildren at Camp Laney and Camp Riverview. We had a truly WONDERFUL experience with the family and our extended family, Rachel and Pete, owners / hosts at Bee on the Brow. They insured that our every need was fulfilled and we were allowed to fully enjoy Lookout Mountain with our entire family. The Bee is perfect for family getaways and / or reunions. The accommodations are perfect for groups and the breakfasts......oh my goodness! I cannot say enough about the beauty of the area, the hospitality at the Bee and the joy we shared with family and our hosts. Please add Bee on the Brow to your bucket list. There are sights to see, places to hike, adventures and memories to be made.
