Pretentious staff, nice but in a fake, overbearing, stuffy and conceited way. The woman in the office (behind the desk) was so fake sweet, I thought I'd throw up.
The "campground" property is a long narrow strip of land with houses (a neighborhood) RIGHT there, all along the side of the property. You're obviously not in a natural setting. There are simply not enough trees here. Whether lazy campgrounds operators have trended toward cleared lands for camping because it takes less maintenance, OR because people are scared of camping in the REAL woods, the trend to clear camping land is gross. I can't say that's what happened here, but it's like a parking lot, and who wants to camp in a parking lot!? Not me. This isn't a campground, to me.
Two stars because the grounds were clean, and it could be a nice kayaking spot, if you're not afraid of the wildlife...lol.
The woman at the reception area was trying hard "not to be racist" about a dark skinned guy sitting on the front porch...she was trying to explain how they didn't usually have poor people with cheap camping equipment, (because they aren't a state run facility, she said) but that it happens sometimes (making motions to the guy out on the porch/stoop). She was trying to console me like I was afraid of him or something. Her racism was OBVIOUS and ugly.
You shouldn't assume that just because I'm white like you, that I judge people by the color of their skin or how they look. Sometimes I don't drive the 50th anniversary edition Mustang, sometimes I drive my beat up old pick up truck... what would you say about me, then!!? Don't judge. You don't know everyone's story, and you might be making bad assumptions about folks you're speaking to.
I won't be back, and I'd recommend anyone of color to find a better place, most anywhere would be better, in my...
Read moreThe campground was located all the way south of US1. It is gated at night with a pin pad for entry... and open to public during the day..The park was large and very well-maintained. The RV section of the park did not have a lot of privacy but had numerous fifth wheels and campers. The lot size was decent. The speed limit is 10 mph and everyone will make sure that that is obeyed.. so be cautious when driving through. The center of the RV park has a large circle seating area for bonfire fire pit some type of group activity. There was an office at the front that is a trailer home and a Nother trailer home in the center that two local sheriffs deputy's reside in. There are a few employees all that seemed friendly. In the center of the park there is a concrete building with the men and women's facility, two toilets & two showers that were well-kept. Laundry facility that has coin-operated machines. There are camping sites available for people with tense. They have three separate choices for campsites. All of the prices were affordable and offer optional amenities. There was small playground with slide and swings that is surrounded by a chain-link fence. There is a dog walk area that is fenced in chain-link is well. There are small canals that run throughout the park. The lands are natural savanna preserve not to be disturbed. There was a mixture of people from the RV park to the campsites. There were retired couples with small pets to families with young children to early 20s. Everybody says it was very friendly and sociable with each other. I recommend this for a safe clean facility that is large and has a...
Read moreUnfortunately I am giving this place a one star. For the past 11 years I have traveled to Port Saint Lucie for work once a year for a month stay. I discovered this place last year and really liked it, clean bathroom facilities, laundry room, wi-fi, Wayne the maintenance guy/security, is great. All the things a traveler camping lover like me needs to be happy. Well this year was a completely different experience they've cut back on their available campsites which forces everyone to be right on top of each other and unfortunately I was trapped between two homeless campsites. Please understand I am a compassionate person and non-judgmental however when I feel uncomfortable for my safety and the safety of others it's a game changer. I strongly recommend that this facility start to screen their patrons closer. Find those that are traveling with their family, find the "real campers", travelers passing through and end the cycle of hosting those who are abusing what used to be a beautiful campsite. Make use of the property and don't force everyone on top of each other - I would have been willing to pay a bit more for some space. Take reservations, it helps to eliminate...
