I absolutely loved staying here! I had the pleasure of staying at Black Bear for a week, and plan to stay longer the next time I visit! Black Bear is a wonderful way to connect with and get back to nature. As soon as you step foot outside your cabin, you have an incredible view of the mountains. I was amazed because no matter where you stood in the RV park, you were just surrounded by mountains. Walking around Black Bear in the evenings watching the sunset was so relaxing. Black Bear also has a dog park so your best friend can experience Colorado with you! The owner of Black Bear has put so much love and hard work into restoring and beautifying everything. It’s evident all around the park and with all of the amenities available. The shower/bathroom is AMAZING and one of the nicest I’ve had the pleasure of using. It smelled super clean and was SO spacious! I would highly HIGHLY recommend staying here. Not only is staying here amazing, but the location is as well. Black Bear is right off Highway 50, and there are so many trails/hiking areas right down the road. The Arkansas river even runs on the other side of the highway. A week wasn’t long enough to be able to be able to see all of the beauty surround Black Bear. I can’t wait for my next stay!!!

Good: Easy online booking and no time limit on when we could arrive or check in. We arrived at 8 and were met with a helpful camp host (or maybe it was the owner). Bad: Lots are very uneven and tight, hard to get bigger rigs into. All but maybe 4 sites look like they are permanent residents. Lots of tall, pokey weeds and cactus... even some dead trees between campsites. "Dog walk" and "trail" area was not well marked and not maintained. Lots of junk sitting around... chairs and broken things randomly in places. Volleyball court had weeds growing through the sand and playground area also had lots of un-mowed, un-maintained, pokey tall weeds. It looks like nothing has been maintained in quite some time. I think almost all of the good looking pictures online were from 5 years ago, when it was better maintained. It looks like the place has gone downhill. We stayed only because it was so late when we arrived, but we wouldn't choose to stay here again as the whole place felt sketchy and unsafe. This place would be better if someone took the time to clean it up. It needs some work.

Had a good time at this rv park. The hosts were great and very helpful. The place seemed very safe. Only issue at the property, I found, was the limited Verizon wireless signal. And the wifi was ok but not great coverage. I feel like if they set up a few more routers to spread the connectivity bubble it would be a lot better. And the lastly the place smelled a little like a sewer when I first got there. Once I told the host he said he needed to treat the septic tank. After he did that the nasty smell went away. I was thinking it was someone’s sewer connection from their rv smelling the area up. Another great thing would be to have the rv parking spots have more gravel. I didn’t like the dirt everywhere when I was walking around my rv. When I showered for the first time in my outdoor tent setup. There was a ton of dirt shooting up from the ground as I was showering. I guess if it was gravel it wouldn’t have been as dusty. Overall a nice little place. Just wish I had better connectivity.

When I made the reservation in July, I spoke to a very pleasant person who lives in Texas. Black Bear RV is now owned by a company in Texas and staff is not on-site. Via e-mail, we were asked for info about our rig, and sent a link to complete a waiver. The e-mail stated a noon check-in time and had no further info about the check-in process. We provided the rig info and signed the waiver. ||||The day before arriving in August, we were sent numerous text messages about a form, and the need to provide info about our rig. The text messages had check-in as Noon in one sentence, and check-in as 3:30 in another sentence. We called, got a nice person who spoke limited English. We were able to determine that they had received the form, but that they needed our rig information. Provided that again. She told us our site #'s, and said we would get a text with codes and check-in information. On the day of arrival, we got a text with the WIFI password and no further information. ||||When we arrived, we could not find an office or staff. We finally saw a small sign with the instructions to just go to our site. About 1/2 hour after we arrived, a pleasant person stopped by with her infant to let us know she was the on-site manager, and to give us the code for the dumpster. She provided no further information or assistance. ||||Sites 1-6 are COMPLETELY different than the website photos and the reviews, which were written a few years back when someone named Pamela owned and ran the property. These sites are VERY narrow. It took our friend multiple manipulations to pull in with his 5th wheel. These sites have no room for chairs or tables to sit outside. There was an old picnic table perched on the slope between sites 4 and 5. Significant literal trash at sites 1-4. A dead bird, dead vegetation, sewage pipes without caps, intense sewage smell. Very low water pressure. Unkempt weeds and sticker burr plants at our site, those next to us, and most of the places to walk the dogs. Buildings and grounds were trashy, run-down, dirty. We were traveling through for one night.||||We would strongly discourage others from...
