This is such a magical place! The desert has it's sounds and colors that make everything so much better. The road leading in is fine for any type of vehicle, the spots/spurs are easily accessed, as well. There are 2 sides to this BLM, these photos are from the west side. Next time I'll camp on the east side due to the non-stop target shooting that goes from 7 am til 9 pm. If you can stand the constant powpoppowpop all. day. long. then go west. When/if the gunfire is briefly stopped (probably reloading) this place is so calm and peaceful that time stands still. Yes, there is cholla all over the place and it glistens in the sun. If you don't like that, take the kids and dogs to a campground. ** 1 star removed for the annoying gunfire **

Dreamy magical place. It is advised if in a big rig or towing a trailer to unhitch or jump on a bike to find a spot 1st. We had got in a jam and had a little trouble turning around but not bad. Other folks it took longer. There are really large spots but then I saw small vans taking them when they should have been more thoughtful to take one more their size. Make sure you have water and supplies as it is not close to anything. We have a dog and she did fine. Just be mindful when picking out your spot and walked her down the middle of the "road".

One of the best experiences I have ever had in my life! This campsite is amazing. The name Cactus Forest literally says it all. There are tons of cacti, all different kinds, so thick you can barely make out the horizon. It is truly awesome! So quiet and far from the road. In our 3 days here we did not see a single person. The sunsets and sunrises are just ridiculously beautiful. It gets hot so be sure to bring plenty of water! I love this place! Already planning a trip back!

Hi every one again ! A warning " snakes are out of hibernation now ? So be very careful and keep your eyes on the ground while walking ? I ran upon two today in the late evening , and one was just out side my tent ? Make sure you zip up your tent if you do not want the company of a rattle snake because they will surely crawl in uninvited? Make sure your dogs know not to get close to them ? And keep a close eye on your pet ? My dog knows not to get close to them and he knows all about that rattle sound and he gets very far away ?he will not get close or taunt them ? And like those coyotes he as well learned how to walk around those spiky cactus's ? Coyotes come out every dust and dawn and if you have a small dog' that's the time you should keep them very close to you ? And everyone" let your camping be a...

To the east there are 2 known camping spots. To the west many of the campsites are now closed with a sign saying no camping within 1/4 of a mile of the water hole. More campers so perhaps that needed to change. There are about 4 back in trailer sites if you can back in at a 90-degree angle off a single lane road. Perhaps a dozen van sites. About 1/2 way down the road becomes Arizona state land and requires a permit to access. It was crowded in the general area. The tanks road (north south) is paved at least to this campground.

It is really cool because of the diversity of cacti; probably 6 different species. Shooting is probably the range about 5 miles away; they do cowboy competitions. Not disturbing given the distance. There is a hill to the NE that is used as a BLM range also about...
