After rave reviews by others, Cebolla Mesa was on my hit list. I was not disappointed.

I was able to get the best campsite at the far left of the trailhead, right at the edge of the cliff. Not only does that site have the best views, it's also the largest. As others have stated the campground doesn't accommodate large RVs. I saw two different Casita trailers during the week and they are perfect for this campground.

Overall, it doesn't appear that this campground gets a lot of campers. There were day hikers and fishermen every day but not many campers. The toilet was in need of maintenance and the road in is slow and rough when towing a trailer.

The views, the hike to the river and the quietness make this an amazing camping experience. ( Note, AT&T coverage...

My dad worked for the USFS and he flagged and marked that trail when the old trail was becoming obsolete. He worked with the engineers and the crew when they were building it. I took him out there with my 10 yr old son today. He hadn’t been out there in many, many years. He’s 79 now. He remembers working on the trail and his days with the USFS. He doesn’t remember the conversation we had going or coming home. This was one of my daddy’s many...

Lovely free campsite. Clean pit toilet, tables, fire pits. Dirt road up is a little bumpy, a car may or may not make it. No problem in a high clearance or 4wd. We were the only ones up here for the night so really quite and secluded. Great sunset and sunrise views.

Trail down to the river is about 1hr each way, can get hot in the afternoon so take plenty of water. Look out for the petroglyphs at the first...

Loved it, great trail and hang out/camp areas. Road is tough getting in, and can be real muddy and hard to leave if it has rained. Take it slow and you should be fine with most vehicles if it’s not raining. They previously did road work on the main path leading over to the gorge that looks down to the Rio Grande/Red River! PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT ❤️
