Château des Montes — Hotel in Four Corners States

DISAPPOINTED…. OWNER NOT RESPONSIVE to any call or text, claims he was “off the grid” despite knowing there was a wedding taking place on his property. The cleaning person was also not available. Advertising as an event venue and not providing any support is poor management.

Upon arrival, the first guests at the house noticed that it was not clean. The outdoor pool area was green and not set up in any way for guest relaxation. Instead, we were left guessing if we had arrived on the correct weekend. Anyone who understands that a wedding is a special event would think the owner or operator of the grounds would be available for questions or problems (things happen), but NO ONE RESPONDED to the numerous texts and phone calls that were made.

The rest of the guests staying at the house and other family members jumped in to fix the situation so that the bride and groom didn’t feel worse than they already did. We looked for cleaning supplies, we emptied the garbage that had been left behind by the last guests, we cleaned the coffee pot that was left full (for weeks as it had mold grown), we swept up and disposed of a dead mouse, made the pool area look decent despite the fact that the pool was unusable. Inside the house the plumbing had issues and guests had to use a plunger every time  a toilet was used.

The house is old and in desperate need of significant repairs, however, had it been clean and ready for an event I would not even be writing about the poor condition of the house (cracked windows, windows that didn’t even open broken refrigerator that leaked water on the floor, the list goes on). And NOTHING excuses the lack of care and communication especially when the OWNER KNEW there was a wedding taking place. Beyond...

Gorgeous, clean home in a dream location. I've stayed at the Chateau in both the winter and summer seasons. It was the perfect home base for my friends and I after long days of adventuring. The home is large and provided ample intimate space for individual time while also containing the absolute best environments for coming together as a group. The hosts are super responsive and made sure me and my friends had everything we needed for unforgettable experiences. They gave us great suggestions for local hikes, post skiing hot springs soaks, shopping, and stellar restaurants. An amazing stay in a gorgeous area. The views are stunning. The courtyard is very private with adjustable lighting for ambiance. The firepit was a great additional feature. Our host provided a tour and made several suggestions for local favorites. The location is 15 min to town and 15 to Taos Valley Ski. The house itself could fit 4 couples comfortably, each with their own bathroom. Linens and towels were high end with a luxurious feel. Plenty of amenities, great location. And the stars!
